It's a strange positioning. Not knowing what to expect i hoped to trade-in an SE3 for an SE4/16e. I was also hoping for a SIM slot.
On the Plus plan the SE3 gives me only $415, while for iPhone 12 and up i got up to $830. So in my case it does not really make any sense to get the 16e when you could get the 16 for it instead. I would not mind playing with it though for battery and modem (Apple) experience.
So probably i see if i can get a 256 16e through Apple/T-Mobile so the phone is unlocked trading in a 13 and selling the SE3. In reality i should get the 16 though, i think, since i get full $800 credit. Its a slightly better phone in almost every aspect.
why do people prefer Sim card over eSIM? Just for travel which requires it? More secure?

iphone 16e 256GB (IMO the minimum) $699
Trade-in, iphone 6s for $250
Out of pocket cost over 24 months
$699 - $250 = $449 + (Tax on $699)
----------------------------------------------
$250 = Monthly credit of $10.42 over 24 months
$450 = Monthly bill increase of $18.75 over 24 months.
--------
$700
Initial cost is around $65 (taxes). Then my monthly bill will go up $18.75 for 24 months.
In conclusion $450 + $65 = $515 total.
why do you guys need so many gigs? How much can you do on a little phone? Is it because you guys have to travel and you wanna play games and watch movies..?
Quote from dadab :
EIP makes the phone useless if you need a second esim.
the second esim would allow you to switch between two phone numbers on the same phone? If so, is it easy to switch , just press Some buttons? Do most iPhones have the capability of using two Sims on it?

Privacy advocates say that the new iPhones are much more invasive, I guess especially AI. Does that bother you at all?

We have Simple Choice. If done at Costco, the 16e comes out to about $60 after taxes here in California. (T-mobile giving $500 trade in and Costco giving $100 card)
Wait you can get the phone at Costco with simple choice? It's not out yet. What is the pricing? $539.99? You also get $100 gc? Add a line or just upgrade?

I called my local Costco and this guy doesn't break down prices. I don't know why he's a dingus. But there is no 10% off. Him saying $60 after taxes is calculating $100 gift card. So it's $160 cash +500 Tade then you get a $100 gc after 90 days. I don't know why people just magically think we need to know how much your stupid amount is after 90 days. Just put the real cost.

I guess it's time to buy another S10e. They go for about 90 bucks in my city locally. Gives me $500.

Yes, you can preorder at Costco. Retail price is $599 plus tax. Costco offers $100 GC for upgrades and waives the $35 activation fee. Just trade in required.

I have Select Choice, is that different from Simple Choice? What might Select Choice qualify for?

I'd been shopping S10e phones with burn-in/dead pixels/pink screens just to get a few Pixel 8a back-up phones on trade-in.

Good luck!
