I think you were probably down voted because most people buying a receiver of this quality are primarily concerned with the sound and not as much with an outdated looking UI. I couldn't care less about the menu if it sounds good.

Recently the A2A model was on sale for $400, and many comments mentioned that they would prefer this one at a reasonable price. Damn, that's a hard decision...

I had a model from this series and was not happy at all: You need to use the TV menu for almost everything. But then, the TV menu looks like from my NES. It's really not compelling. But I got down voted for this comment before. Please just do your research :-)

*As well, it's gigantic - but that's a matter of taste and space.

Just purchased this last week from Amazon. Luckily I still came out ahead due to gift cards but this Yamaha is worth every penny!
Huge upgrade from my Denon x4400h which gave up the ghost with its red blinking light of death.

none of these receivers have better user interfaces - also you can use the yamaha app on your phone to control most features and get additional function which is much more ui friendly

I was waiting for the A6A to go back to $1300. Not sure I really need all of the power and upgrades that it offers but heard it was sweet spot of the Advantage series.

If you exclude the obvious feature differences.
I agree with others, it comes down to a sound signature(quality) preference.

Here is a comparison of the feature differences.

Here for $579 including speakers, but currently not available. Maybe call them about availability?
Keep in mind that's not the AVENTAGE(a4a) model rather the step below(V4a) and it's a refurb.
That's just a satellite speaker package also.

configuring your receiver is something you do only occasionally, maybe if you're adding a device or reconfiguring the room. you'd only see the "bad looking menu" during those times.

Thanks for posting, I've been waiting well over a year for a deal on this one. Like a Trap Door Spider, I snapped it up! 😊

Hmm just got an 83" B4 and currently have a TSR-7850 which doesn't have hdmi 2.1 or 4k/120/vrr. I was thinking I could just plug everything directly into the tv and use earc for audio. Would that work fine or is this worth the upgrade?

I also got 4 of the rp600m ii for mains and surrounds, rp504c ii center, and 2 in ceiling for atmos
