Yamaha has rolled out a new firmware update for its Aventage range of AV receivers, with the headline additions including 4K/120Hz and HDR10+ support.
Firmware Update 1.65, to use its full title, adds the upgrades with immediate effect to Yamaha's RX-A8A, RX-A6A and RX-A4A models that launched last year (the RX-A2A not quite ready to make the cut this time). And after Yamaha acknowledged and addressed some known HDMI 2.1 compatibility issues with a number of its AVR models, it's good to see the company continue to fix bugs and add new features.
Leading the list of improvements is hopefully a fix for any pass-through problems, delivering a smoother 4K/120Hz and 8K/60Hz. This should appeal to many Aventage owners, especially those who've got a new-generation games console as part of the same set-up. HDR10+ support should also be a welcome bonus for those with compatible TVs looking for an enhanced HDR performance.
Here is a comparison of the two.
