Yeah, I'm not gonna say it's okay for Amazon to put all these garbage ads on the Fire stick. It really makes the experience sluggish. But what's the alternative? The built in apps on my LG, Roky, and Sony TV also have ads and is also very slow. A $160 Apple TV? Yikes, you're going to compare that thing to $25 dongle! I have one of these things on all 3 of my TV's for less than half that.

4K Max WIFI connections have issues (me & a lot of reddit discussions, it might have hardware design issues that potentially block signal). 4K is stable but has less ROM. If one doesn't download a lot of apps, 4K is better.

I have prime with the firestick and I can not say how terrible the user experience has became. It used to be decent, but now the Fire OS is exactly like being at a time share convention. Push Push Push Sell Sell Sell Low Quality Ads.
The ads are not the only issue. Helpful shortcuts have been removed. It is ten times harder to navigate. I assume that is to force you to you voice search.
As a long time user... Amazon has destroyed the firestick. It sucks. Zero Stars. No, I do not recommend.
And they seem to die within 2 to 3 years. Firesticks should be given away free. They are that bad.

This is a great deal on an excellent streamer. For those complaining about ads, they are at the top of the screen and do not interfear with browsing or operation. There are no ads in the guide or while scrolling through programs like you get with the cable companies. The video/audio quality is excellent, and price is great as well as the screensaver functionality to protect my OLED. Also Interoperates well with all my soundbar and HT gear.
Honestly I don't mind the ads as they are based on my interests and typically show some other program or series I'd be interested in.

I have a ATV. I use it for one single app, DirectTv Stream. And not because I can see any difference in anything except the ATV uses location services so I can get my local market channels on the DTV Stream app. For everything else I have a Fire TV. And I have a Fire Cube and a Onn box connected to my FireTv..

Most of those people are just Amazon haters or they don't do some research on YouTube. You can disable those ads you can install programs that "kill" background apps witch use alot of memory you can install an ad blocker and do a lot of things you can't do it on Roku or Apple TV and you shouldn't expect a $25-30 stick perform like a $150.... If you have the money by any means buy a better box but for some of us who just want to replace the TV sluggish systems it's great

The device for sale costs $35

Apple TV 4K with ethernet can be found for $100.

I would think at Slickdeals, of all places, there will be people who want to save money but also buy a product that will last a few years before turning to a slow laggy POS.

Information is education for the uninformed, congrats on your Apple TV, others might not think about that option or think it is viable due to the MSRP.

But please tell me what person, Slickdeals or not, wouldnt pay $65 for a night and day better experience for a device where navigation, speed, and UI is literally the most important thing.

Dang I'm sick of my Apple TV and was hoping this would be a better option. I'm on my third Apple TV in around two years. No issues ad-wise but hardware failures and glitches like Siri pops up and it stops functioning etc might try out the nvidia shield I guess
