Called into T-Mobile today because I got a text saying my plan is increasing by $5/line since my older T-Mobile One plan has been the same price for 8 years. The rep told me that there is a targeted offer available to some older plans that started today 3/13/25. Bring your own device and get a free line. I had to pay $10 for a sim card, but they were able to credit me $10 to my account.

Worth a try to call in if you have an older plan. YMMV.

I checked with T-Mobile, I am not eligible. I already have 4 free lines on Go 5G Plus.

I have 5 free lines, they add it for me. I have 3 paid and 6 free now, monthly fee drop $40.

You'll rock. Magenta Max isn't even a grandfathered plan so it should all work out. Changing the billing code (quoting from your post) would be the equivalent of moving you to the 9-12 line plan.
Update: I tried T-Force again during the week. Confirmed once again I just need to add a line no plan change. Agent confirmed no plan change just need to move me to a 9-12L. Sim fee was $10 + taxes, but later a $11 credit follow. After everything said and done. The only text I received was the promo unenrolled and that's about it. I give it couple day before checking my account or reach out to T-Force. Sim card has not arrive yet and I cannot find the tracking number in my account beside the order #'s. So here's the comparison discount I have before and after add a line.

BEFORE
Magenta MAX $140.80/mo
Applied discounts and promotions:
$10 AutoPay Discount
$28.8 2022 T-Mobile Insider P1
$30 AutoPay Discount (Additional Lines)
$32 Line Discount ID200011 (Additional Lines)
$32 Line Discount ID200012 (Additional Lines)
$32 Line Discount ID230405 (Additional Lines)
$64 Friends & Fam 2 Lines On Us (Additional Lines)
$6.4 2022 T-Mobile Insider P1

AFTER Add a line
Magenta MAX $100.80/mo
Applied discounts and promotions:
$40 AutoPay Discount
$42 Line Discount ID230405
$42 Line Discount ID250259 - (this is the new line, but seem like is the free line ID)
$84 Friends & Fam 2 Lines On Us
$42 Line Discount ID200011
$42 Line Discount ID200012
$25.2 2022 T-Mobile Insider P1

My before insider disc. was at $35.20 and after move to 9L is $25.2.

Your estimate was at $86 when I move to 9-12L and it does decrease the bill down to $100 from $140. So do you think I did alright here? Many thanks to you @coloradoman_in_socal for helping!!

Yes, you are very alright. I believe you got hit with the $2 price increase, hence the difference in base plan pricing (you are getting $42 line credits which suggests you got the price hike last year). And the new line is free too! Congrats, you're saving a bundle now and have an extra line.

Well that makes sense then. $18 more in base price increase less 20% insider = $14.40 + $86 initial estimate = $100.40

Did you take advantage of the free line? I have 4 paid lines on the old One Plan and got a text message on 3/13 informing me of the price hike. Also, got a message about the free line on my T-life app but could not find the message again yesterday, so it must've expired. Anyway, my balance due on April 15th didn't increase and did not increase last time either. Now I'm wondering if my plan didn't increase because I didn't take advantage of the free line...
I think the price increase will show on the next bill, generated in April. I saw that mentioned somewhere in my texts from them.
I am the ONE plan, with 10 lines (including the newest free line), and the price on my newly generated bill did not change.

You'll be fine. Glad to see that the new line is also free.
Interesting. My bill is negative $16 this month and says it will be $50 next month (was $115 previously) Does this make sense?

KB is $10 OFF ($8 OFF if you have an Insider discount) if you use less than 2GB of data on those lines, regardless ofthe number of lines on your plan. What the other poster is trying to say is that if you have a KB on a free line and 9+ lines plan, and if you use less than 2GB of data per cycle on that free line, you would see a bill drop of another $8/$10.

Some on reddit suggest both promos are 'discontinued', but I'll keep trying. One comment said it can be done by an 'offline' team member, so maybe a call in...

Same. Adding One Plus Promo is a 100% success rate for me. Kickback 0%.
Quote from starcaptor :
I couldn't get hookup since I already had service at the time of those promos...and those are for new customers...so can't speak to that.

Regarding KB, I am not sure either, sadly. I initially got KB on my six paid lines in 2017. Then got three free lines through 2020 and 2021. I assumed that I couldn't get them on free lines for the longest time (the reps said that you can't get 10 off for a line that you already have for free). Then I had a major snafu at the beginning of 2023 where the SOC for BOGO (from 2017) fell off. In the midsts of replacing that SOC, they reset everything on the account, and added KB to two of the free lines. That's how I know that it is possible.

I also had KB added to a 'free-not-free' line last winter, but ended up cancelling the line because the line ended up being not free.

Tl;Dr - it is possible, but you need to basically buffer-overflow the reps to adding it
Quote from Fancy_Deer :
Thanks, from what I read here and on reddit previously, the KB benefit that you are mentioning only kicks off after >= 9 lines, I guess he accounting method changes and KB discount counts even if the lines are free.

I cant even imagine the complexity of TM's billing code

I don't recall how many free lines you had before but paying $50 instead of $115 makes total sense to me! 👍🏻

Edit: unless you can't live with the guilt!

anyone on 9-12 line old One Plan? I never got a text about $5/line increase last time, or this time. Not complaining, but wondering why.

Guys. I am looking for people who have 9 lines on the One plan and got hit with the price increase LAST TIME, in June of 2024. I just need to confirm two things:

1. Did your plan charge for the 9 lines increase to $355?
2. Did your free line credits increase from $30 to $35?

Thanks!
