PSA: Be careful if you're scheduled to pickup on Friday. The activation timer may starts on Friday but the CS aren't availble on weekends, which means you only have whatever hours left on Friday to attempt cancelling the line.

Nothing to add about this deal, but I got this phone a couple months ago and I have to say it's the best phone I've ever used. My wife got a Iphone 16 pro max and the camera on the Pixel 9 pro XL puts it to shame - especially when zoomed in. And the battery is usually around 40% when I go to bed at night after heavy use all day.

So if you're on the fence about this phone, don't be - you'll love it!

Online it seems you have transfer a number. To get a new number, you have to do it in store. Is there a way around this?
Nope, for new accounts you have to transfer a number if you want to do it all online. You can get a throwaway number from Google voice/tello etc and port it.

So you don't need to sign up for new cellular service? What is the catch then?
You do have to sign up for service and then you cancel it once the phone ships. Refer to the thread in the post for more details.

This deal requires you transfer a number unless you do in store. Transferring a number to an account you are going to immediately cancel is going to be a huge PIA unless you have a spare number or one you can tie to a GV account then pay to port out.

This info really should be in the OP as it changes the whole deal dynamic.
You should not port your primary number for this. Instead, port a throwaway number that you can get from tello/Google voice etc.

For my local BB, pickup date is 5 days away. Will bestbuy activate the phone right away or ONLY on date of pickup?

The reason I'm asking is that if Besbuy activates the phone right away, then more than 3 days would have passed and AT&T/Verizon will NOT waive activation fee.

Will they refund for the service? Also do we need to pay upfront?

Nice, finally a decent trade in value for a Pixel 6a. My charging port has been crap, so this will be a great upgrade for me right now.

They will activate it when you get the message about ready for pick up as far as I know. You will also get a msg from ATT when the account is created.

See the thread in the original post but they will send you a bill and you will have to chat to waive the charges.

So for VZW, how do you cancel without opening the box?

can anyone order the 256 model?
My iPhone 13 trade in value is too much to trade in for 128 GB and it won't let me go ahead with it.

I wonder if I can do this in store instead?

Thanks, wouldn't they need an account number / phone #, which wouldn't have been assigned at the time of shipping?
