Has anyone gotten charged extra for the phone by Best Buy after cancelling service?

The Best Buy employee tonight mentioned that might be a possibility, but that certainly didn't seem like the guidance from this thread.
AFAIK, no. Once you pick up the phone your transaction with BB ends.

Will it be possible to add a line to a closed account in ATT ? I opened and closed an account the same day after pick up, but just wondering if I need to get to another device . Would it allow ? Anyone had any experience ?
You closed a line in that account so you should be able to add a line to that account as well however you might need to have a number for 2FA etc so you can't have that as the old inactive number.

That's the point! So the only way is to open another account? But would ATT would allow to open with the same SSN ?

I helped my brother in law on this deal. Ordered the 128gb version online, store pickup, new Verizon customer, pick a new number (not a port-in), no trade-in. Got email notification this morning that order was ready for pickup. Went to Best Buy...picked up phone at the general online order pickup section (not cell phone section). Box had a Verizon SIM card taped to the box. Went home, turned on the phone...went thru the prompts...phone asked to connect to wifi, then insert SIM card...we did...phone activated a few seconds later. Test the phone to make sure it can receive calls and make calls. Took down the new phone number assigned. Called Verizon customer service. We asked to cancel service...customer service rep asked for the Verizon number associated with the this phone. Verified ID thru text message URL link they sent. Proceeded with the service cancelation. Got charged $7 and change for some sort of fee/tax. No charge for activation. Inserted US Mobile SIM card...tested calls/texting/data....all working. Setup the phone to migrate/move data from his old Oneplus 8T to the Pixel 9 Pro XL. Used the supplied USB-C cable to move data. Succeeded in a few minutes. To verify that the service has been terminated, I called his new Verizon number just a few minutes ago and a recording answered saying that the number is invalid and that service has been disconnected, etc. All went smoothly. Thanks so much OP for posting this awesome deal!!!
Verizon do hard check on SSN?

So I just picked this phone up from best buy. It was not activated in store but they did give me a Verizon sim to activate it. Can I just skip doing that and port my current number over to it?
Mine was not activated and can not made call, what did you do for the issue?

Did you cancel Verizon? Will they send another bill or is this it?
Today within 48 hours I was able to create version account , bring my new line and chatting with agent cancelled the line.
Seeing in the account that the line is no longer existing.

$0 charged. Although agent had to override the activation fee.

So if you read my post above you'll see I made $50 by turning in iPhone 13 128 gb (new unlocked ) to pixel 9pro xl (new unlocked )

XLpro works well. It's unlocked. But I don't know why it's gets quite hot when I doom scroll. Wasn't an issue with Apple.

The cpu on the pixel 9 is literally the same performance as a iphone 13 also applications are normally not as optimized for android as it is for ios.

I selected iPhone 12 for trade in. Any chance I can trade in 13 instead or will they have to cancel and reorder ?

It took a while to get access to the account from Verizon and then to cancel it.

Was I supposed to request that the activation fee be waived? I thought it would be automatically if cancelled/ waived if cancelled within 3 days. Anyone know how it works with Verizon?

Since you do the trade-in in the store, I would speak to a store employee.

So I canceled my ATT line today after 36 hours since I wasn't seeing any tracking info.

I don't see my number anywhere on my ATT account now but Google Voice still has it listed. I sent a text from another number and I received it in the Google Voice . What does this mean? The number didn't port since I did not activate the phone itself ?

My experience is that it does not automatically happen. Wait few days to receive final invoice which would include pro rated charges and activation fee. Then call them again.
