For those who only want cash, not points:

$1000 cash back less:
- $95 annual fee
- $50-100 opportunity cost for spending $5000 on a card that only gives 1%cb when you could have gotten 2-3%cb.

Still over $800 tax-free profit. Not bad at all.

Considering it. I have one more application before I hit chase 5/24, then wait for a boosted amex gold or platinum bonus.

Any 0% apr period on this?

Will they treat a tax payment at pay1040 as a cash advance? Most credit card vendors treat it as a purchase.
The offer is supposed to be available online starting 04/03.
Not only is it in OP's message, it's also in the subject. Good grief.

I applied yesterday and got that dreaded application review like some others. I had the Sapphire preferred last year but it was through a product change so I never got any welcome bonus. Technically I should be eligible. I called this morning to check the status and was told I have to wait 2 weeks for a letter. I can't stand the wait on these stupid reviews. Been a chase customer close to 20 years, I have the cfu, checking and savings with them. Close to 800 credit score and have not applied for anything since 2021.
I got "revewing" message, hope it goes through.

You downgrade the card after 1 year passes and the next annual fee ($95) posts. At that point, once you see the annual fee posted, call or message Chase and tell them you want to downgrade product-change the Sapphire Preferred card to either the Freedom Flex or Freedom Unlimited card. They'll waive/refund the $95 annual fee, and will send you the downgraded card in the mail.
any reason to wait for the annual fee to come due? Can we not downgrade right before the annual fee posts? I had Venture X last year and downgraded before the annual fee came due

I applied online. Chase sent me a letter saying I needed to contact them if it was really me. I called they asked a bunch of security questions. Told me they would get back to me. Weeks later nothing, I called them again and I think she redid the application. They then send me a link to upload my id. I uploaded my State drivers license, valid and not expired. Nothing! So after 5 days I call and am told on the phone my ID was rejected and "there is no more review and nothing I can do" she said. Biggest PITA ever!

I went to capital one and got a venture card. I don't appreciate chase pre approving me and then hitting me with a hard inquiry before saying my real drivers license isn't good enough. Telling me there is nothing I can do and hanging up the phone on me!

Chase considers that to be churning abuse. They're fully aware then that (in their eyes) you were simply applying for the card just to get the bonus and then attempting to cancel it. To them, the odds are high that you will try to pull that again. They could flag your account(s), cancel it altogether (including any other Chase cards you have), and ban you from ever applying for another card, let alone any bonuses. Sounds like you got away with it with Capital One, but Chase and Amex are not as merciful.

As such, it is general consensus in the credit card bonus community to wait for that second annual fee to post before attempting a cancelation or downgrade.

I counted only cash rewards.

I've never used door dash, so I didn't count that. Not a cash award, and not valuable to everyone.

"Trifecta" Question: Can it be done between spouses? For example. I'm main card holder and my spouse authorized user. If she gets another chase card and I get another one and we are both authorized users for one another, can the points be moved across the cards?

Also, opinions on doing the trifecta? Worth it?

You don't have to be AU to transfer points between the accounts. The person who is transferring the point will call Chase and tell them to transfer point to another CC account.

If you use points for cash back, then sure useless. Otherwise, if you travel and transfer points to airlines or hotels this is one of the best/required cards to have.
This is correct. But the benefit is limited to only points transfers. The points benefit is similar across cards and that is not the issue I am talking about. Other than the points there is no tangible benefits with Chase, compared to Venture X. You can go o the site for exact benefits of Venture X, but as I said before some notable ones are
1. Price drop protection for flights
2. $300 annual travel credit, that is directly available at the time of booking
3. Cover the TSAPre/GE fees every 4 years
4. 10,000 bonus points added to your account every year
5. Priority pass membership for primary of authorized users with unlimited access to lounges across globe (that allows each membership to take 2 guests in addition with you).

Venture X charges a fee of $395 that gets covered with $300 travel credit and 10,00 bonus points every year, making it technically no fee card.

I generated a referral link for my wife but it only shows 60K points. How to get the 100K link with 10K referral points
Wait till later this week. Wednesday or Thursday.

If you don't want to wait, you can still use the 60k referral to apply and then contact customer service to match the bonus with the 100k offer.

Similar to you - I applied online and it went to review. Forgot I had a note in my credit to verify identity before approving me for anything. So I called them and provided the info they asked me and supposedly the lady pushed the application though, but she couldn't tell me if I was approved or denied. Apparently I have to wait 1-2 weeks for more info. I hope I don't get the same results.

I take blame for my credit security review but having to wait 2 weeks for a physical letter is so annoying. Not sure why they can't just inform me over the phone or let me know by email the results of my application. I'm already planning going the Amex route. This is probably the last Chase application for me. Been a customer for 20 years, checking, savings and cfu.

Does anyone know when this offer will expire? I'm trying to time taking the offer with my car insurance which is a decent size spend but it's 4 months from now.

On that note, what are popular ways to spend $5k? I'm pretty frugal so based on my last 3 months, it might tough to make $5k. And that would require shifting all my other CC spends to this new card.

Online usually lasts about a month (you'll see a notice saying going away soon)

I see so many questions asked here that are answered in this FAQ. https://www.reddit.com/user/garet...hire_fyis/

referral link date is supposedly 8 Apr, offer is usually around a month online (there will be a disclaimer up saying leaving soon when close)

Same experience here, applied, got told to wait 7-10 days, called, they asked a bunch of verification questions, asked to upload valid photo id and current address proof, then said wait for a mail in 7-10 business days with a decision.
