Getting warmer. Last time there was a massive obersupply of NAND and DRAM chips this dropped to $79 and with the progress of technology since then this really should be much cheaper by now probably sub $50.

If this was solidigm I would have considered it. First dramless drive I ever seen that operates like a drive with dram.

Thanks.

DRAM should be a standard specification listed on any SDD page. Not saying all SSDs should have DRAM, but the store page should always include a mention of whether or not the SSD has it.

I immediately googled it and had found the info in a reddit comment, SD comment, amazon user review... Not on a product or store page.

100% Amen!

And while we're at it can we have laptop product listings specify if their RAM is soldered in or not? Very similar situation and it's SUCH a pain to find.

Or, hear me out on this... Right to Repair standardization laws.

Let's all stop buying from companies that deliberately obfuscate as much as possible to keep you from doing what you want with things that you own, largely for the sake of planned obsolescence.

Toyota isn't perfect, but one thing they do have that every company should be adopting is a public database to look up part numbers and order them without having to go through back channels.

I don't want to reverse engineer your product and steal it. I just want to keep what I buy going for a reasonable amount of time without feeling like I'm renting it.

Any reason to avoid dram-less? I bought a 4 TB version of this for solely game storage and haven't had any issues with that use

No. Not really. A PC can use its Ram as buffer. This is called Host Memory Buffer, which is not terrible. However, an external box or the PS5 won't support that. So it's a bit of a limitation that's all.
