6550m looks to be on par with the rtx 3050. Seems like a reasonable price, but I don't think it's going to do many AAA games with anything but lower settings.

I got this laptop last year open box for $365. First thing you need to know, you MUST buy another 8GB or 16GB stick DDR5, comes with 1x8GB stick, so you have one free slot, only windows was using 5GB RAM out of the box, and the graphic card it's only 4GB GDDR6 so you need more ram. Also screen and GPU are very mediocre, you're getting what you paid for. Colors are not accurate, and this GPU can't handle any triple A games on max settings. Apex legends was giving me 80 FPS at medium settings. My mobile GTX 1660 Ti with 6GB GDRR6 is way faster than this one, at least on Apex Legends I'm getting double performance. Anyway it's a very decent laptop with upgrade options and good price at $450. Lowest price ever is $429 for brand new.

Anyone complaining a sub 500 laptop cant run AAA games at max settings is crazy, just be thankful you can run them at any settings at a playable rate.

Got this a month or two ago. Upgraded ram to 32Gb (probably overkill). Runs older games like Satisfactory and Half-Life 2 flawlessly. Some newer games run well (Planet Crafter, Sons of the Forest). Haven't tried anything brand-spanking-new.

Have a desktop with a 4080 super but wanted a cheap laptop to play lighter games when I travel and easily hook up to my tv if need be for co-op games ect.
This is a great price for what you get, you need to upgrade the ram though but it's super simple and is an extra ~15$.
Was able to run Valheim and Spyro Reignited at ~90 fps at medium/high. Anything lighter will run no problems. New AAA games you will probably not have a smooth experience.

Wow! 32gb of RAM? Do you really need that much? I guess games are becoming more demanding, and as a computer builder, I guess it's better to have more than less. Thank you for your review. I'm not getting one, but I was attracted to the price, which if I know if anyone needs one soon, and the sale is still on, I'll refer them to this one.

Looks like only open box versions are left for me. An hour and a half away for the good one @$387 and an hour away for the excellent one @$401.

I have one bought from last year. With a $3 USB-C to HP adapter and a USB-C cable rated for 100+ watts you can charge and use the laptop with a USB-C GaN charger. Just need to set the device to power efficiency mode in Control Panel. Should be good for most cases including programming and doing graphics-intensive raytracing programs
