It also offers its own great room correction especially if you add A1EVO($20).
If that's not good enough, you have the full suite of another great RC Dirac at your disposal, which this doesn't.
If Dirac was a priority i suggest looking at the OB RZ30 for $749!
It would be a better investment imo.

The RZ30 was released 6 months ago and right now you can get it new for $799.
I would argue if Dirac was a priority, a $750 AVR that includes Dirac Live, independent sub outs & offers bass control would be a better investment.

amazing sound with quality speakers - IMHO with AVRs the speakers are 9/10th of the law, AVR is distant secondary. I have yet to add a subwoofer to my system and do a Dirac setup and I'm alrady very pleased with the results in my house basement
The bad:
eArc return audio does not work with my LG C4 77 OLED, or I should say sometimes it does, most of the time it doesn't... no matter the cables or the settings or the updates or the factory resets etc. I had to disable it and, instead, use the TV's optical output into Integra's optical input, which limits me to 5.1 but that's fine, my serfous viewing - 2160p movies - is done over the home network via Onn 4k TV box streamer and that pushes all audio formats - DTS and TrueHD - via HDMI without a problem. In fact, the LG's native media player is definitely inferior to the Onn, so no harm done.
Hope that helps someone decide.
BTW if anyone has a suggestion as to how to fix the eARC audio return by all means, don't hesistate to pitch in, thanks
EDIT: NM, I disabled Dolby Vision on my LG C4 - and enabled HDR+ - and eArc works as it should now. I've been reading that DV is giving a lot of HDMI problems with various AVRs...

On the hand the 1700 is capable taking advantage of A1EVO for $20, which works very similar to Dirac.
Here is a comparison of the feature differences.
https://www.zkelectroni
Most of the input will point out feature differences as a reason for being better, sound wise there is no universal answer imo.
Examples:
This has more power… do you actually need it,how much difference would it make, worth the cost?
This has pre outs… do you need them, will you ever use them, worth the cost?
This has extra channels…. Do you need them, will you use them, does this help sound, worth the cost?
This has Dirac… which is thee biggest selling point, people are quickly finding out A1EVO offers pretty much the same performance.
Having experience with both, they sound different to me, which one sounds better for you, I couldn't tell you.
If they were the same price this would be the easy choice mainly because of the extra features.
