It certainly does not align with my ownership experience of the Onkyo RZ50 and Pioneer LX805...
Now you can get better with the 3800 for $679 I wouldn't want it to align either! 🤷🏻 ♂️
I personally think I would have been hard pressed to tell them apart and most likely could not have in a double blind( sans the separate amp capability of what I had connected to the Marantz pre pro)
I suspect they build them right along side each other with the biggest difference being the looks
With the recent acquisition of Sound United by Harman from Masimo ...and in light of the poor financials of Sound United...I personally dont see why they would keep both brands around anymore
Sounds United was dropping and dropping in sales year over year and losing millions every quarter
I cant imagine Harman International wont stop that bleeding of financials , whatever it takes
As I mentioned in my comparison, the difference wasn't really there.
That's why in my experience the 3800 for this $679 price is a steal since it gives you everything the RZ70 does!
Most would be hard pressed to hear a difference!
You would only look at the 6800/30 if you NEEDED any of those features.
If 11 channels is a must, the 30 & this are out.
If not and Dirac is a must, imo the 30 is probably the better buy.
I will point out I am very much in the minority, almost everyone in here doesn't really value Dirac's subwoofer correction/integration RC & or independent sub outs.
If that's the case for you, then this would probably be the better choice.

This seems like a good deal with most of the latest tech. I'd jump on it if I could verify. I see SlickDeals moving towards some sort of AI application that does better than driving people crazy every thread "hey do I need this? I have an XXXX." It's embarrassing to be that guy and it's frustrating to be the one with the answers.

One of the main issue/mistake people often do imo, they look at the avr to improve what they hear.
TBH you should only upgrade your avr because you NEED a new feature.
Even a majority of those features people debate are subjective as improvements to what you hear imo.
If the main goal is improve/upgrade sound performance.
The top two things to look at is the quality of ALL your loudspeakers & room acoustics.
I would add optimal placement of those loudspeakers.
This has been the case/advice for decades but has mainly fallen on deaf ears!
The irony is it works because what we hear is completely subjective, you can't be wrong!
I'm planning on upgrading my TV (Samsung RU8000 series) to an OLED/something with VRR, and need a new receiver since I don't think my current one (Onkyo TX-NR656) supports VRR.
I like that this has component/composite inputs, just in case I decide to hook up some older consoles to it.
