The Hisense U8K is an excellent TV overall. It's extremely bright in both HDR and SDR and has fantastic reflection handling, so it's stellar in any bright room setting. Its contrast and black uniformity are superb, so it also looks amazing in dark rooms, and highlights pop amazingly well when watching HDR movies and games. Overall, it has very good image processing and supports advanced audio and video formats, making it a great choice for a home entertainment TV. It's great as a gaming TV due to its amazing picture quality, superbly low input lag, and good response time. Unfortunately, its viewing angle is inadequate, so it's not a great TV for any wide seating arrangement, like when watching TV shows or sports with friends.
PROS
Fantastic contrast results in deep blacks in a dark room.
Exceptionally bright in both SDR and HDR.
Fantastic reflection handling.
CONS
Image degrades when viewed from the side.
It's a bit buggy at times.

I got this TV in Jan. So far so good. Only issue I have is that the sound cuts out for a split second from time to time. I'm hoping they find a fix for it. Other than that I'm really enjoying it.

How would you compare TCL QM8 (2024) to the U8K (2023)? They are available for similar price.
Been watching these TVs for years. I spend a lot of money on television sets lol The Hisense is further along. Both brands were the lower end television sets 3yrs ago Hisense came out with the mini led and it's insane! Underneath OLED FOR ME! TCL was behind, but the latest QM8 they've hit a home run from all the reviews I've seen and read. It's not far along for me to switch. Hisense U8N is the best, then the U9N which has component s from UX ($5-10) sets. Unfortunately, the U8N and U9N do a way better job than the UX! Granted on paper the UX has insane tech, back arrays, peak bits etc lol Those components are now in the U9N for a fraction of the price! Only thing from U8H, U8K, U8N that changes are the etofq, blooming, DSE, and contrast. The U9N is peak. If you compare all 4 and 5th (UX) it's crazy how the other first three gens KILLLLLL it for the value! Like kill it! U9N is my next purchase or LG C5 or LG G4. We'll see.

I'm reading that U8K (this model) is more comparable to the QM7. that also has 1200+ local dimming zones
Giving it a thumbs up! It's $200 cheaper than I paid in November 2023. Yes it is buggy but I do marvel at the picture quality and brightness when I get a 4k signal.

I hear an Apple TV 4k works wonders to mitigate that buginesses by turning it into a monitor and removing the processing burdens.

Three years ago, I purchased a 45U6 and a 65U8, and they're still working great. This March, I bought the Hisense 85U8N from Amazon. I mainly use it to watch TV shows and movies, and on weekends, I play games with my kids. Its performance is truly impressive. I also bought Samsung and TCL TVs for my parents' house, and after two years, Google TV runs sluggishly on them. But on the Hisense, Google TV is still running smoothly.
