until you see the taxes and fees which you can expect to go up every single year...

For NY residents, the math would be as follow:

Phone taxes at 8.765 = $350.25/36 months or $9.73/mo

Telecom taxes and verizon fees = $12.26/mo/line x 4 = $49.04

Phone service = $120/mo

Total = $178.77/mo

First month = $178.77 + ($35 activation fee x4) = $318.77

Bill credits over 36 months. If you pay off immediately you will be paying the full price

Is it getting that bad out here? lol Good deal is a stretch.
3yr phones that will loose a ton of value you have to add insurances ( why wouldn't you) locked in plan with less than in most cases pre paid vale worth of usable and features of service.
I mean you are just paying full price for phones and taxes with service that can be had at that price almost anywhere 3rd party or pre paid heck if not cheaper without the services fees and headaches. I mean sure your not paying it all up front but you will just pay more in the back end with issues and spotty service that is know to be bad ON PUPPOSE!
You don't really understand the concept of insurance. They make money. That means you lose money, on average. Otherwise they wouldn't sell it.

Many of us can afford to replace a phone if we break it. If you can't, you either need insurance or (if you're smart)…. You don't buy an expensive new phone. 🤦🏻

I tired this and the rep said the $200 GC didn't qualify bc I was opening a new account by porting over numbers from T-Mobile. I am doing the deal where Verizon will pay off your old phone. I am a brand new Verizon customer.
The GC applies regardless. Get a new CSR

$800 per port per line, up to 12 ports

Thank you @LukeTheDuke1515 for the tip about $800 port in credit.
I was able to do it via chat. Same thing, they had to send me a link to upload bill.
My story:
Been on Tmobile for many years now. 4 lines ~$150 including 1 line w iPhone 16Pro Max (still $850 to pay off), just switched over to Verizon today
3 lines of Welcome, 1 line of Ultimate
  • $800 port in credit to pay off existing Tmobile phone
  • $1000 trade in for iPhone 13 Pro on 1 line
  • $200 GC back via rebate
  • $35x 4 ($140) credit on first bill for activation
In a nutshell, going from $150ish to about $200 a month. 3 lines will be slower (25Mbps 5G threshold for Welcome plan) but all brand new phones (iphone 16 Pros and 1 line has 16 ProMax), includes Apple One, Google One (that alone is $20 a month, which I was already paying for separately).
Thanks, and we have to turn in/trade in our phones from T-Mo to verizon?

4 phones 1300 a pop if you break next day or its stole is a lot of $$$ out of pocket. vs just paying the insurance and only out a couple hundred vs thousands.
someone puts a gun in your face or bumps into you or anything you cant control you can just be smart right? that will stop them... You loose money if you never claim sure but you save if you do claim. again terrible advice that no FA would give anyone who was 4-5k in asset debt
"Many of us can afford to replace a phone if we break it" Ok but like why? why would you want to spend it twice YOU STILL OWE THE DEBT on that asset btw. So don't buy a car if you cant replace it got it!
"(if you're smart)" clearly you are way ahead of me here...

If I'm already a Verizon user, is there anyway to benefit from this? Can I open a new account using someone in my family and transfer through that?

Also, if you are worried about the 3 year contract just know that at least T-Mobile, AT&T, and Spectrum will pay off installment plans to switch. Although if you use the $800 pay off offer from Verizon you have to stay with them for at least 6 months. Phones automatically unlock after 60 days of service.

I'm a current VZ customer and I'm wondering if I take their offer to upgrade to a 16 and then could use an AT&T or TMO new customer offer to pay off the installment plan are there any advantages in doing this?

That's exactly what I did. But you have to transfer out to another carrier first, so stack this with the Metro by T-Mobile iPhone 14 deal.

Was it immediate for you to transfer out and transfer in?

If I'm on at&t and I'm at 10 out of 36 bill credits with them...can I switch over? I think Verizon helps pay off phones from other carriers.

We really only need 2 phones but also have 2 watches - I see they're doing $0 watches but it comes out more expensive for 2 phones and 2 watches than 4 phones. Is there anyway to get the 4 phone deal and just use 2 of the lines for our watches?

Your grammar doesn't do much to make you look intelligent.

Simple rule…don't insure what you can afford to replace. You might want to get a new FA.

If you're that poor, fine. If you get robbed a lot or are careless with your phone, fine.

You don't understand actuaries if you think the average person makes money on insurance.

I've saved enough on NOT buying insurance for decades that I put in a bank account and can buy a new phone if I need to.

And since the phone is basically free with this promo, you can always use a different phone for the 3 years if you have to.

But you do you. Keep misspelling words and breaking your phone and getting robbed. Rough life you lead.

Online it has $210 for that phone. Beware that you got bad info from the CSR
