3yr phones that will loose a ton of value you have to add insurances ( why wouldn't you) locked in plan with less than in most cases pre paid vale worth of usable and features of service.
I mean you are just paying full price for phones and taxes with service that can be had at that price almost anywhere 3rd party or pre paid heck if not cheaper without the services fees and headaches. I mean sure your not paying it all up front but you will just pay more in the back end with issues and spotty service that is know to be bad ON PUPPOSE!
Many of us can afford to replace a phone if we break it. If you can't, you either need insurance or (if you're smart)…. You don't buy an expensive new phone. 🤦🏻
Thank you @LukeTheDuke1515 for the tip about $800 port in credit.
I was able to do it via chat. Same thing, they had to send me a link to upload bill.
My story:
Been on Tmobile for many years now. 4 lines ~$150 including 1 line w iPhone 16Pro Max (still $850 to pay off), just switched over to Verizon today
3 lines of Welcome, 1 line of Ultimate
- $800 port in credit to pay off existing Tmobile phone
- $1000 trade in for iPhone 13 Pro on 1 line
- $200 GC back via rebate
- $35x 4 ($140) credit on first bill for activation
In a nutshell, going from $150ish to about $200 a month. 3 lines will be slower (25Mbps 5G threshold for Welcome plan) but all brand new phones (iphone 16 Pros and 1 line has 16 ProMax), includes Apple One, Google One (that alone is $20 a month, which I was already paying for separately).someone puts a gun in your face or bumps into you or anything you cant control you can just be smart right? that will stop them... You loose money if you never claim sure but you save if you do claim. again terrible advice that no FA would give anyone who was 4-5k in asset debt
"Many of us can afford to replace a phone if we break it" Ok but like why? why would you want to spend it twice YOU STILL OWE THE DEBT on that asset btw. So don't buy a car if you cant replace it got it!
"(if you're smart)" clearly you are way ahead of me here...
I'm a current VZ customer and I'm wondering if I take their offer to upgrade to a 16 and then could use an AT&T or TMO new customer offer to pay off the installment plan are there any advantages in doing this?

If I'm already a Verizon user, is there anyway to benefit from this? Can I open a new account using someone in my family and transfer through that?
That's exactly what I did. But you have to transfer out to another carrier first, so stack this with the Metro by T-Mobile iPhone 14 deal.

Simple rule…don't insure what you can afford to replace. You might want to get a new FA.
If you're that poor, fine. If you get robbed a lot or are careless with your phone, fine.
You don't understand actuaries if you think the average person makes money on insurance.
I've saved enough on NOT buying insurance for decades that I put in a bank account and can buy a new phone if I need to.
And since the phone is basically free with this promo, you can always use a different phone for the 3 years if you have to.
But you do you. Keep misspelling words and breaking your phone and getting robbed. Rough life you lead.
