Just a heads up. The address listed on Rove Dashcam's website is actually a rented private mailbox (PMB) at a UPS Store. That's kind of like the equivalent of using a gmail for business. It may signal something about the company's level of establishment. Worth keeping in mind.

If you research online from (dashcamtalk, project farm, and others) they will lead you to VIOFO A119 mini 2 or REDTIGER F7NP. Better cams for a few bucks more
Not a true 4k dash cam. Also overheats and resets often

Comparing this to VIOFO a229 pro. Both have nearly identical specs but VIOFO is almost triple in price without sd memory. I like VIOFO, I have a mini 2 but for $90, I'm considering ROVE.
You should take a look at the VIOFO A229 Plus Dash Cam Front and Rear, I have it installed in both of my cars, they work great.

Note: it will always throw an error at some point for you to buy a different sd card and at some point not even work unless you buy rove-branded sd cards. It'll keep saying the memory card speed is too slow blah blah blah. Spent over $100 on multiple sd cards just to get the damn thing to record and they kept failing according to rove. I ended up tossing this garbage and getting redtiger.

I have considered VIOFO A229 but it's at least double the price of this ROVE. I don't want to spend more than $100 on a dash camera. Most of the complaints I'm reading here are about recording the plates but were the vehicles in motion? My VIOFO A119 mini 2 will not record the plates clearly while vehicle is in motion so if I need that information, I'm going to read it out loud as the camera records. After owning a dash camera, I realize that people expect too much but I'm more concerned about making sure the accident wasn't my fault and the light I ran was green. Every time I start the car or turn off, I make sure I hear or see the camera record before I go and check the footage frequently to verify my camera is still working.

Is it true that only extreme rated microsd's work with these ?
I have a diff brand (VIOFO) dash cam that uses STARVIS2 and it did require specific microSD cards.

I have this camera with the hardwire kit (required for parking mode) and CPL filter (reduce dash reflection on windshield). I'm happy with the quality for the price. It can read plates at night which my last dash camera could not. Rove app works well for updating the camera firmware and downloading videos without removing the SD card. Plenty of YouTube videos to show you how to properly run the cables for these dual dash camera setups and install the hardwire kit. I used just the front camera for a while until it warmed up outside and then I installed the rear camera. Great deal at this price. Better price than I paid months ago.
Not sure how close youre getting to cars, or if youre just full of it, but this camera cannot read a plate from 30 feet in broad daylight. This is a crappy camera and that uses false advertising to make people believe that they have a 4K sensor. I had one, I returned it on the first day because it is about as useful as a potato if you want to read plates.

Perhaps Viofo has a deal with Sandisk to manufacture its SD cards, after all both of their manufacturing facilities are located in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China.

They are recommended by users on Security / Webcam forums. I have been using Samsung Pro Endurance cards for years in my security cameras and Viofo webcams without any failures. I replace them every 2 to 4 years.

Yep, I use them in security cameras without issue.

Im always fascinated when people keep pushing to run dashcams with endurance rated cards when I've used nothing but Sammy evo plus UHS-1 cards over the years and never had an issue with them. Maybe I've just been lucky?

For long term usage review, some version of VIOFO camera has overheat issue so can't run for too long or in hot summer time under direct sunlight. And overheat may lead to fail recording. So how about VIOFO A119 series? Do they have overheat issue? And do people actually verify if the video is recorded correctly?
VIOFO may have good qualify if it recorded correctly based on reviews but if it failed to record during critical moment, then it doesn't matter about the video quality.....

I had the same issue, Amazon brand SD card was my solution. I got three Rove 2 older versions, the last one I got started giving me the error issue (samsung and sandisk). Got a cheap Amazon basic. Problem solved.
