Some Reddit Reviews:

"The WiiM Amp is a very well executed streaming, multi-room amplifier. It easily plays against big boys of streaming despite lacking their name recognition. Objective performance is very good for the class. The only wish is post output filter feedback to eliminate low dependency of the frequency response"

Bought this a couple days ago for $270 but haven't opened it yet. Returning it for this deal haha. Super well reviewed overall from what I've seen and like the audio source inputs it has.

The ultra isn't an amplifier in any way - you still have to output the audio from it to an amplifier.

The Ultra isn't an amp, it's a streamer with a fancy display.

And this amp, while capable of streaming, doesn't have a display, so a phone, tablet, or television, etc. is needed, and the DAC in the amp is (reportedly) "fine" but the Ultra's is superior.

The form factor is pretty good to great, which many people seem to appreciate quite a bit.
I really wish it had stereo sub outs, it does have one RCA sub out so there is that.

The ultra is a streamer, DAC, and preamp.

The Ultra DAC is pretty good, it's the 9038q2m

So I've always wondered what the best way to play flac music from iTunes on my pc over to my marantz receiver outputting to my kef R series system.

What I have
-pc with flac hardwire network
-Marantz avr airplay
-iPhone 14 pro but my local music synced from my desktop (no Apple Music subscription)

Currently I use airplay to play music but I don't believe it's lossless.

Would this device allow me to play my lossless songs from my iPhone wireless to my avr at the highest quality

From what I read, any device receiving from any iOS device through Airplay 2 is lossy at 256 kbps due to using AAC.

Good units, used one at my sister's house when her multizone denon home theater receiver died. Super easy to set up, and airplaying, or casting to it works without a hitch.

I've had one of these for over a year and it works flawlessly. Set up with a HDMI connection to my LG. Using an Apple TV instead of the native WebOS apps. The sound is playing through two pairs of in-ceiling speakers that were in place when we bought the house. The WiiM Amp is 2.1. I have the front and rear left side speakers connected to the left speaker connection on the WiiM, and the front and rear right side speakers connected to the right speaker connection. I do not have a sub (yet), but the WiiM supports one. I often use AirPlay to play music from my iPhone to the WiiM. This connection has also been flawless.

In 2024, the WiiM Amp was often on sale for 10% off and was 20% off during Amazon Prime days. This 15% off is a solid deal.

What does HDMI out to your LG TV provide? Is it just visualizations for the music you're playing?

I assume they're talking about using the ARC port on the tv to send audio via HDMI to the WiiM Amp.

You could save even more if you Bump "down" to the Pro and pair it with a $50 Fosi amp or an old receiver you already own. That's the money combo.

I use a Dayton Audio APA150 and a WiiM Pro+. If rocks the whole house.

This is the model I bought, and it does work with Airplay, even lists in the item description that it does. Never had an issue.
