Boost Mobile [boostmobile.com] has 512GB Motorola edge+ 2023 Smartphone (Boost Mobile Locked, Black) on sale for $59.99 + $60 1-Month Unlimited Talk/Text/Data Service = $119.99. Shipping is free.

This phone is now back in stock at Boost. It's a steal at this price still has better specs than most phones out there especially with 512gb of storage. I bought one on last years deal and was able to unlock it via one of the unlockers who were kicked off of eBay. Many didn't have the unlock codes yet back then but would assume their available now. YMMV. I currently use mine with Instabridge esim for 5gb of free data a month. Just bought another for my wife.

Note, on product page select "I don't want protection" or Boost Protect will be added to cart at $12/month.

Specs (source [motorola.com]):
Processor: Qualcomm SM8550-AB Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (4 nm)
Display: 6.7" 1080x2400 165Hz pOLED
RAM: 8GB LPDDR5X
Storage: 512GB
Operating system: Android 13
Battery: 5100mah
Cameras:
Rear Camera Hardware - 50MP, 1/1.5" optical format, f/1.8 aperture, 1.0µm pixel size | Quad Pixel Technology for 2.0µm, Omni-directional PDAF, Optical Image Stabilization, 50MP Ultrawide angle (114° FOV), Macro Vision, f/2.2 aperture, 0.64µm pixel size | Quad Pixel, Technology for 1.28µm, 12MP Portrait (2x telephoto), f/1.6 aperture, 1.22µm pixel size, Ambient Light Sensor
Front Camera Hardware - 60MP, f/2.2 aperture, 0.61µm pixel size | Quad Pixel Technology for 1.22µm

Super easy, just download the firmware and extract it to the rom folder of Smart Assistant and flash. Note it will wipe your phone
So the phone has been flashed to unlocked retail firmware but the software channel still displays as Dish Network, even after a factory reset?

I'd like to switch to retail but from what I've seen in the comments it sounds like each future update will require a manual flash using the Moto software and potentially even a full wipe. Is that correct?

i think need unlock bootloader to change dish channel to retail which is risky if try relock it can brick the phone.

" flashing the RETUS Android 15 firmware on your device (with a locked bootloader) will not change the software channel. However, it may place your phone on a different build than the Dish software channel. As a result, the device could stop receiving OTA updates entirely in the future"

I know the software channel can't be changed without a bootloader unlock. Same goes for other brands I have experience with. Not having OTA updates is a bit frustrating, but having to do it manually via desktop software isn't a huge problem as Moto doesn't frequently release substantial updates anyway.

What I'm really focused on is the wipe requirement. If a wipe is required after all updates, including security patches, then switching to retail is far more trouble than it's worth. Maybe I've got it wrong and a wipe is only needed on the initial flash and major OS updates?

If software channel doesn't match the build number appears not gonna get OTA updates after.

Unlock bootloader flash RETUS then relock bootloader without bricking it. Then software channel and build number will match is only options to get OTA updates if flash to RETUS

When flash firmware it wipes the device.

When flash any firmware it wipes the device.
That's what I suspected. Why then is anyone in this thread flashing to retail? I can only guess they either don't know about the wipe requirement going forward or simply want Android 15 now and are willing to ignore future updates.

From what I've seen, Moto's Android 15 releases have been somewhat buggy and very inefficient in terms of battery drain. More patches will be needed for sure so a flash retail A15 then forget it approach doesn't seem like a wise one.

I got Android 15 on the Straight Talk Moto G Power 2024 back in January i prefer it over 14 it has better battery health features you can limit it to stop charging at 80% while android 14 only has the learning feature when you charge.

What's the trick to doing this? While using the Motorola Software Fix program, "download" firmware is the only option...no way to select an alternate. Even if I let it download what it wants and then replace those files in the Rom folder, it fails in the next step.
I had to turn off my internet so it would'nt download Dish firmware, just place the custom rom into the rom folder to update to the manual one

I plan on flashing mine back to Dish Android 15 once Dish A15 is uploaded to lolinet so i can do OTA updates again. Did Dish release the 15 update yet? Or is their phones still on 14?

My line is still active and i got the refund yesterday $60 tax not included shows under payment history guess they want you to port the number out or just let it expire.

So if anyone wants $60 back just use the 30 day money-back guarantee on service plan and disable autopay again the line stays active.
ok. i will try.

Anyone able to use google meet on this phone? I only get a black screen when it tries to connect the camera. Looks like there was an update, it's working now.
