There is only one Finale edition, and this is it. It doesn't say signature on the device. The difference between the "Signature" edition (the blue one) and the "Finale" edition (this grey one) are that the Finale has:

-improved potentiometer with less channel imbalance
-different (not better, not worse) capacitors
-upgraded processor (pulled from v1 idsd Diablo)

Functionally the only difference is that this one can decode MQA which most people don't care about. Sound wise and measurement wise, they're identical.

I got the non-signature version - i.e. the "iFi micro iDSD Finale" Does anyone know what the difference is? Should I return it?

This is the Signature Finale. I've ordered it from Adorama before (when it was $249) and mine was gray just like the site shows.

The "Finale" is the final revision of the Signature edition, with the updates I mentioned in my previous comment. They're are essentially indistinguishable from a sound standpoint.

What kind of headphones do you use with yours?

Good looks on the info, I'll try them with my hifiman joints today, esp, the he6 v2 that they say is a challenge.

what is considered regular price for this (this or a similar version). The online prices are all over the place, it's hard to get a gauge

Would this be an improvement over a schiit stack? I like that it'd be portable, but mostly wondering whether it would be an improvement/worthy upgrade for desktop listening...

Growing up, I built tube amplifier projects and various other sound electronics, and I love music. I listen to music on my way to work using my Buds 3 Pro or live (I live in NYC). When I can find an album in Dolby Atmos, I'll listen to that; otherwise, I wouldn't even mind listening in mono if the music is good.
But what is this amplifier used for? What music do you all listen to in what circumstances?
Someone gifted me a Motiva Big Ego amp, and I want to know how to see the difference it makes. I have a Galaxy S24 Ultra, which I believe can play lossless audio, and I have some songs in .flac on the phone and VLC (only because the artists Maria Schneider and Wendy Carlos opted out of streaming platforms).
What should I do to experience a noticeable difference in sound quality?
I'm sure that I'm missing something, if you pay $200 for this, it can't be a hoax or a placebo effect, right?
thanks
