A lot of ignorant people putting bad reviews because they can't use Windows programs on it.

Since the OP chromebook was OOS by me, just picked up a good condition CX3402 for $140. It was missing the charger so they gave me a 45w brick and 6ft cable, but otherwise looked pretty new other than some dust. Battery at 93% capacity.

Depending on local stock, Good at $141 and Fair at $121.

14"
i5-1335U
8GB / 128GB

But no backlit keyboard, and it's not a 360 hinge.

In the big what?

Guess what, an i3-1215U is more than enough CPU performance for most people, and it's a great price for a 2-in-1 version. Although I'd rather go for the cheaper i5-1335U deal mentioned above.

These are x86 computers so it shouldn't be that hard to install Linux or Windows on them.

Chrome Unboxed review indicates the screen on this laptop is pretty poor resulting in pixelated images and text and a screen brightness of only 250 nits.
90% of chromebooks are STILL 200-250 nits in brightness

It's 2025, no laptop should come with a screen less than 500 nits regardless of the price

No one is doing graphic work on a Chromebook but who wants to browse the web with a screen that looked like shit in 2012

I have this model and it is my daily browser. I use it for social media like Facebook and Instagram. Connects well with my Samsung phone. Agree it is heavy and bulky and got used to it. Screen brightness is OK. I actually dim it lower since I use it in bed and in night and mornings. I can do phone texting on it on Verizon. So pretty much use it for communication and YouTube and I have watched Netflix and it performs well enough on the matte screen. I came from Samsung Chromebook Pro 13 inch screen which was the best Chromebook laptop I have ever used. Unfortunately the Google expired it and I used about a year after without updates and went to this ASUS buying from Costco when it was $150 each brand new. I am very happy with it. Happier if it was the Samsung Chromebook Pro which was lighter and solid. That charged both sides with USB C which spoiled me.

On Best Buy fine print says excludes refurbished and open box.
would a super old HP netbook count as a laptop for the coupon?

It doesn't have a backlit keyboard if that matters.
Updated: I picked up one from nearby BestBuy store, and surprisingly it has the backlit keyboard!

Got one for pick-up in good condition for $164. Does this have decent HDMI out and use it like a "desktop" ? Trying to phase mom off Win 10 and really all she needs is Chrome web browser.

Is this deal better than the eBay refurbished option for the Acer CB514-4HT - 14in Laptop Touch 8GB 512GB Intel i3 1.8GHz? I don't really need touch screen or stylus, so I guess just speed and longevity.
