For those that may be after this 805 BB has OB for $1838, new is $1999.
Not the lowest but the low price($1500) has not replicated, unlikely to do so imo.

There are slight differences between the Onkyo RZ70, for the most part they are the same.
https://www.zkelectronics.com/com...vsx-lx805/

FYI this is the one Pioneer that does not have global crossovers.
Has 4 sub outs, 3 & 4 run parallel/mono.

I assume when saying "this" you meant the 40(denon/marantz) since this will not have access to ART.

Within in that "all" licenses, Dirac's subwoofer/bass license is a paid option for everyone, including this.

If you use any subwoofers in your system, Dirac's RC(DLBC) is one of the best in my experience.
As a matter of fact you will need DLBC to upgrade to ART for that very reason(per Dirac).

Here is Dirac's explanation of what ART offers:https://www.dirac.com/live/art-technology/

On a side note you said you own this(LX805),RZ70,Cinema 30,Cinema 40,RZ50.
Did you add DLBC to any of those, if so which ones?
Did it add any meaningful difference to the sonic performance?

FYI there is a 20% off sale going on right now for "all" Dirac licenses for Denon & Marantz products until June 30th.
Yes..I did mean " this " unit in this thread and I am aware of what is standard and what is a paid option for Dirac , per audio piece being discussed

I dont have a have a Storm audio product and thus have not demoed ART in my own environment with my own test material

I tend to wait to see if new products are worth it to me than make assumptions based on specs
I have been disappointed by " nothing burgers " in the past and specs that sound great on paper but that I didnt think added much to my environment , if anything

I do own the LX805 unit in this thread and have since last year. I do not own an RZ70
I own a Cinema 30 and it took the place of the Onkyo RZ50...which I sold
I am only demoing the Cinema 40 now because it was a good deal $$
Not sure if I will keep it yet, as I am not seeing what it offers , in excess of what I already have for my intended purpose.

The only set up that makes sense for DLBC is my main room that is run by an Arcam prepro AV41 and principally a Monolith amp and multiple( 3 subs)..that is 90% home theater application at this time

I was looking for something for 75-80% music listening..with no room correction engaged
The Denon X4800 let me down..frankly I thought it sounded just like the RZ50

I have to say the Cinema 30 has impressed me. This is the most musical piece , I have ever owned, from a Denon/Marantz product and does quite well with the Kef Meta speakers

Do you know if there was a firmware update issued to fix the DLBC bug? I just checked and my receiver is still on the old firmware. I have been following the discussion on avsforum but didn't see any updates on the topic. I'd appreciate it if you can point me to the update discussion. Thanks.
For the Pioneer LX805/ RZ70 and Integra 8.4...yes there was firmware update to fix a bug with Dirac Live bass control

FYI "this" won't get the advantage of ART.

So your "performance" opinion on these 9/11 channel surround AVRs is mainly based on 2 channel, no sub, no RC…. that makes more sense(kinda).

So DLBC only makes sense/meaningful difference when using a subwoofer(s) with a surround setup…. That makes more sense also.

Would you say DLBC makes a meaningful difference/sense in a surround setup?

Again...I dont own a Storm Audio product, so I have no idea what the audio advantages of ART would be to me in my own listening area
The other thing I have to recognize is that just because a product offers an additional option..ART is good example, does not mean that I like it better, performance wise, in all the other capabilities it shares with other products I own

Personally, if I am serious ( or get serious) about ART I would need to find a product that I like just as good or better than the Arcam AV41 pre/pro, in every way, that also offers the option of ART

I have trended to listening to 2 channel music in another area of my home. It was duty done by the RZ50 until all these deals came available at Best Buy/Magnolia

So I took the opportunity to switch out just about everything in that area and also A/B several products...both AVR and speaker wise
Some I have kept, others I have not
The Denon X4800 , to my ears, gave me nothing to add to the RZ50...so that was pulled out
The Cinema 30 , however, is another animal. Thats a piece I could listen to for hours connected to the Kef R metas
To my ears, its the most musical Denon/Marantz piece I have ever heard in my ownership

As for the Cinema 40...it was a good deal...though not as cheap as the $1200 someone reported paying the other day at Best Buy/Magnolia
I dont see that replacing the Pioneer LX805..in many ways its a downgrade and I dont really have an extra spot where I need it versus what is already there

The update to fix the DLBC "off by 1" bug is not out yet. According to folks who have been in contact w/Onkyo (PAC), the fix should be available in about 2 more weeks. This was only possible because some owners threatened a class action lawsuit (members paid for DLBC w/o a working product)!

Well your opinion between the the RZ50 & 4800 is why I asked the question about DLBC.
If "gave me nothing to add to the RZ50", are you claiming that adding DLBC to either and not the other adds no sonic performance?

I never even got to running room correction on the Denon X4800
Again, unless I liked everything else, capability wise, more than what the RZ50 could do for my application, why make a change

It was only until I got to the Cinema 30 that I could pull out the RZ50

LOL...and from someone who posted that they would not be participating in PAC AVRs threads anymore?!! LOL Wink

All the speculation, conjecture and incorrect information is still clearly coming.....

Here is a note from DIRAC that was posted on June 5th

Jun 5, 2025

"Today from Dirac.

I am pleased to inform you that the Bass Control issue has now been resolved in collaboration with PAC and will be provided in the next firmware update for your AVR.

Let's hope it won't take too long before it's out.

If there's anything else you'd like to add, please let me know. Sorry about the long wait for any new information.

Best regards,

// Glenn

Yes, now regarding Dirac capabilities & I agree with you.
You found out that a product that offers the additional option … in this case DLBC made sense because it provided a meaningful difference in sonic performance…. Correct?

It should since you have often said "Dirac" is head & shoulders better.

FYI sub directional setting on the Cinema 30 & 40(& other D/M Dirac capable products) works similar to ART.

Yes...but it had to have provided everything else, at a minimum of equivalent level of sonic performance, before I even got to DLBC that I liked better as well
Meaning I would not go backward sonically, to my ears, to gain another functionality
The example I used earlier installed now in my situation
If my ears didnt think a new product was at least the sonic equal of the Arcam AV41...even thought this new product offered ART....then I would not consider it to replace the current Arcam AV41 in place now

Hence the reason I didnt keep the Denon X4800...for 2 channel music it offered nothing more, to my ears than the Onkyo RZ50
The Cinema 30, to my ears a is a different and better animal than either one
Hence the reason why I am keeping it

I am on the fence on the Cinema 40

It would help for you to pick a lane, jumping from your Arcam setup to all others(ie 4800) is apples n oranges for obvious reason(2/9,no sub,no RC).

Thats the great thing about Dirac capabilities, all their head and shoulders RC performance(DL,DLBC,ART) are exactly the same!
Whether it's on Storm Audio or Integra DRX3.4!

So on comparable AVRs… ie per your example 4800 vs RZ50 how would ART be "backward sonically" ?

Pick a lane?..LOL
I was merely speaking to the different selection process for different areas
I actually own more than one Arcam unit by the way...I have another master bedroom set up powered by an AVR30 and full Kef R meta set up as well

I have a lot of things, and I change often( excluding my main set up) if you haven't figured that out already
Especially at major discounted situations

I personally dont think that just because the units you mentioned have Dirac capabilities that they are really comparable

Though I dont own a Storm unit, my understanding is that is a reference piece in every way and does everything well

In regards to the Denon X4800 versus the Onkyo RZ50...I never even ran calibration on the X4800
It sounded no better on 2 channel music, to my ears, than the Onkyo RZ50

If I was going to make a change and spend $$ to do so it needed to perform better than the RZ50 for the use that I needed it for 80% of the time
It did not...but the Cinema 30 does

I also sold the RZ50 and basically got what I paid for it about 14 months ago...so no financial loss there at all

Actually YOU brought up all these"units" you compared in 2.0 channel into a conversation regarding "all" the Dirac licenses, not sure why? 🤔

Then you brought in your Arcam surround setup, I'm guessing because it's the only one out of many that has DLBC! 🤔

You still didn't explain which Dirac RC would be a "backward sonically"?

I brought up all these units and was explaing what my intended application was
The main room was a side note..as its really not even part of the conversation
Unless I find a Storm audio prepro at a major discount I dont see that room changing anytime soon..Wink
As far as Dirac , or frankly any room correction, it was really not the main topic for me in this application

I stated 80%( in reality its probably 90%)_ of my use would be for 2 channel music with no room correction engaged
So that is what I am shopping for

You seem to hyper focused on room correction for some reason?

Not even sure what you mean by I didnt explain how Dirac RC would be " backward sonically"
The only thing I mentioned that was backwards " sonically", or better said not a step forward, was specific units compared to others for my intended use
To my ears the Denon X4800 versus the RZ50 is a perfect example
The Denon X4800 added nothing sonically over the RZ50 for me in this application

None of units, for this application, even included auditioning with room correction engaged

It seems you are confused or didnt understand the intent of my specific application

If the Denon x4800 didn't impress you, I doubt the Cinema 40 will since they are practically twins with different badges.
