If you're of tall or stout build (I'm 6' 200#) nobody blinks twice letting you on while all the wheelies have to get checked. OTOH, if you're smaller (wife is 5'1 on a tall day) you might get some side glances, and once she was even informed she had to check her bag despite my walking through with essentially the same pack and not a single word. If you do have to stow it, the zip-up back flap that covers the shoulder straps and hip belt makes for a smooth, nearly snagless profile for automated luggage handling safety.
NOTE: if you're not an organization fiend like me, and want a daypack/underseat "personal" item, I'd spend the extra $40 and get the 55L Version [amazon.com]. That's a 40L Farview with a 15L daypack that is designed to piggyback, strapping in place quite nicely - though it does move the center of gravity of the system a bit far back. Definitely a traveler walking to a hotel/hostel configuration and not an Appalachian Trail through hiker rig. The downside to the 15L is that is has limited internal organization pockets - not quite as bare bones as a stuff pack (not by a long shot) but you're not going to get 16 built in pouches and pockets like you will with something like the Everki Studio [everki.com], but it's a might bit less expensive too. The differences in the 40L vs 40L that comes with the 15L pack are mainly that the laptop sleeve is in the 15L, leaving more room in the main pack. I think there may be one other difference...but it escapes me at the moment.
Anyway, after a dozen or so trips across the US and Europe, I give this pack top marks.

If you're packing that much, this should be a good travel pack. Just looking to keep the weight off the shoulders.
The definition of lifetime differs too. It is usually lifetime warranty to the first purchaser or lifetime for a certain amount of time or until the item is no longer sold. No one does the craftsman 'just bring it in and swap no questions asked' lifetime warranty anymore--I don't even think craftsman does.
The other thing is that warranty statements (like other legal documents today) have become 'fluid' and are constantly changing (kinda goes against the point of having a written agreement in the first place, but that's a different topic), so today's 'lifetime' warranty could be superseded by a 'new' warranty statement that limits the time or changes the term or both.
So while a lifetime warranty is a statement by a manufacturer that they stand behind the product, it should not be confused with a bogo, and can be changed at any time after a product is purchased.

My family and I packed 40L each for our 13 days in Greece. If you haven't packed before you don't literally bring everything and multiple clothing options with you. This doesn't replace a luggage set. You're carrying as you traverse a foreign city, so you pack light, and use laundry service or sink wash.

I did change over to the REI Ruckpack 30 and 40 bags because they're lighter and I didn't need as many straps that the Osprey had, but these have been reliable.
I was between this one and the Nebula. Decided to go for the Nebula as it was a bit cheaper and I didn't need the waste support as I don't do day long hikes any longer. Admin pockets aren't much of a thing any longer, but Osprey at least gives it a functional try. It's such a well made backpack. I'd buy Osprey again in a heartbeat.
*To be clear, I'm suggesting you go "shop for a new bag" at REI, not bring your Amazon purchase in for a fitting.
