Noticed the LinkBuds Fit Truly Wireless Noise Canceling Earbuds dropped on all retailers to $130 and when I went to add them from Sony, saw the popup for $25 off $100. Tested out the code and it stacks with sale prices which puts it $25 less than all other retailers.

In my opinion, this is not a good deal. I did get a deal $115 from Walmart a month ago. Finally I decided to return but I missed 30 days return window.

i'd been waiting for xm5 to hit $200 for over a year, but then my soundcore died and i need something and settled on a earfun. after a buds bios upgrade my earfun are perfect for my nyc commute ANC needs, costing a quarter what sony would have, so i consider myself lucky i no longer need a sony xm5 now that their price is finally "reasonable".

I spent a bunch of time side by side testing the xm5 to the earfuns. the earfuns are great for the money, but the audio quality of the xm5 is definitely better. More detailed and cleaner, especially when the soundstage is cluttered.

I wouldn't feel bad about the earfuns though, great value for the money.

great to hear from someone who did a side by side comparison. i mostly listen to talk, so the base and complexity earfun lacks will not be missed. for me it was mostly about bluetooth power as i keep my phone in a work pant thigh pocket, and want something that would not keep signal dropping off no matter where i was walking, and since earfun did not disappoint even with my 2021 weak bt5.0 phone, (something soundcore fails miserably at). now that i got a new 2025 bt5.2 phone, the connection is rock solid to my earfun and i can even indulge in some of the tap control and higher fidelity processing features without losing a beat. to anyone still considering XM5 here, i would definitely go for it if top sound fidelity in a bud format was a priority, however if you think about it, no matter how good the ANC may be, what would be the point of listening to high fidelity while the ambient subway rumbling or 8 lanes of city traffic din is all around you... this is why even if i had the money i'd still hesitate to blow it on a XM5.

I have a pair of the Sony wf-1000xm4, got them a little over 2 years ago I think. I used them maybe 15 to 20 times total since I got them. As of right now, one earbud won't hold a charge for longer than 10 minutes. I tried resetting, but it didn't help. Seems like there is no warranty protection either. I don't plan on buying any more Sony earbuds as a result.
On the flip side, I have a pair of cheap soundcore p30i that I use more often and actually hold a charge well. Just my experience of course.

I've had exact same problem with my xm4s too. One bud's battery bloated to a point, now won't fit in the charger. Sony, NEVER AGAIN!

The included earbud batteries have gone bad. There are cheap DIY solutions on youtube if you're not skittish about doing some detailed electronic work. No soldering, just some small ribbons and some glue to contend with. See examples on the U Tube.

I replaced my batteries and they work fine. However, I got refurbed XM5s when I thought my XM4s were goners after going through the wash. The XM4s lean bass heavy and are still good, but I think the XM5s have a touch more clarity and are turned to be neutral.

I would have probably kept the earfun if I wasn't working with fairly cheap ($130) xm5 refurbs. But at that price difference I went for the xm5 audio quality.

try ebay, many sell used charging cases when their buds crap out and are as is for parts.

My wife and I had these. Sound was good. Not this price good. Frequent disconnects if my phone was a certain way and near the charging case in my pocket. Never had issues with my other buds. Not for the $120 we paid for good. The charges took a nosedive after about 2 months for both. Then I got mine wet in the rain and case died. I dont think I can recommend these on price, sound, and longevity.
