Amazon seems to be getting flooded with these "new generation" lightweight plastic DC motor fans that are controlled by the same DC motor controller with BT (not Wi-Fi) app. This will render any previously dual-wired ceiling fan setup useless - does not need a separate wire for the light, and cannot be used with any wall mounted speed-control switches. That means the handheld remote control is your sole means of controlling the fan. While the BT app (on the surface) sounds like a nice idea, it's just proving too troublesome/impractical for me to grab my phone, open the app, go to either the light or fan page, to turn on the light or set the fan at a lower speed. While on the SPEED subject, these DC controllers aren't calibrated properly to the fan. The lowest speed setting seem to be too high. So for those installing these in bedrooms and wanting a gentle breeze to sleep at night, it's going to be too high. I am forced to run the fan BACKWARDS (winter mode) as a workaround - and my existing Wi-Fi wall mounted (Alexa connected) fan switch is now useless. If you just need a simple efficient fan that is quiet, do not mind the seemingly always-on-high settings, this fan is for you. In fact, there's even a cheaper option with a coupon now! $35 for a 42" version! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0DBHKMWV1

None - because of the DC motor which requires you to use the DC motor controller that comes with the fan; no external speed controls are possible. If you try to vary the speed of the fan by varying the supply voltage (such as using external controllers such as Caseta and others), the DC motor controller will not respond, and will eventually burn out.

I bought two of these for outside. They're definitely cheap, and I know if the LEDs die on them I won't be able to find replacements. They don't move much air even on speed 6, but they're fine for what I need them for. It is nice that they integrate with Home Assistant (but only if you have your BLE less than 15-20ft from the fans, I had to build a BLE Proxy), and you can pair multiple fans to a single remote.

I just replaced one of my mom's ceiling fans with this one. I was surprised at how simple it was. It uses a single wire to power both the fan and the light, which eases installation, but also means you won't be able to control light and fan independently using an existing wall-mounted switch. (It also means that, if you have a ceiling light without fan, or a fan without light, now you can have both without running any new wires!) It moves a lot of air, it's very quiet (for now, at least), seems perfectly balanced, and the brightness of the light is adequate.
So just put wire nuts on the existing wires that is not needed for this fan?

Does anyone know if the remote is an IR remote or a bluetooth remote ? I want to know if I can use an IR hub to control the fan using Google assistant.

What is the integration for Home Assistant?

I'd like to use one of these fans with a Lutron Caseta remote mapped to control the fan functions (I already have the Caseta Hub connected to my server)
I bought another smart fan. They all use a white label software to install but if you use Tuya to connect to the fan. It'll load right up to home assistant. I've used this for the cheap security cameras/smart switches at tjmaxx. It might work. Reviews say they're able to control it from outside the home.

bought a white one with different coupon, installed yesterday

watching the install video was helpful, as they do stuff in a slightly different order

I don't think it moves as much air as some other fans, but it came with a nice
mount for the ceiling

overall, I needed a tertiary fan, works well

if you turn off at the light switch, the fan goes off but the light will come on, I believe it returned to the temperature that I had it set to

Just got mine installed yesterday. It does move alot of air and the light can get very bright. The only issue I'm having is pairing to to the phone app. But definately not a deal breaker as the remote works fine. The wiring does not allow for separate fan and light control from a wall switch. So keep that in mind.

That's my hesitance to getting more things that have an app vs a remote. IMHO the real benefit of an app is if you need to control or monitor something remotely, e.g. at work or otherwise away from home, or be able to schedule actions. A ceiling fan is mostly an in-room device. I want the light on/off, or the fan on/off/speed change. That's it. Will I be using the app? Probably not if there's a remote nearby. And let's not forget that having an app and BT capability does add cost/complexity so it's not a benign add-on.

shocking. you mean a slickdeals staffer would post garbage for us to buy?!

of all the things im going to cheap out on... a cieling fan is not one of them. its a lot of work to reinstall if its a bad product, and im not trusting some temu factory to make a motor i hang above my living quarters, let alone make a product that is nicely balanced..
"A lot of work". Have you installed ceiling fans before? It's not that hard unless it's your first time.
twss.

All the things he mentioned is correct and accurate. I can't control the lights and fan independently with Alexa. The lowest setting is really high. I had to spin it backwards. Another weird thing is...it sometimes turn on light and runs full blast forward at night. It happens twice so far. I only it own less than 3 months.

Thanks for the detailed info. Question: Can you schedule the fan and light to turn on and turn off automatically with what comes with it (remote and app) or maybe using a smart switch?
No. Your wall switch becomes your main power supply to the fan (think of it as a "breaker"). Flipping it off, and back on will only turn on the LED at half brightness (I guess it's their "default setting"). There is no scheduling function on the remote or app. And by the way, because the app is BT (not Wi-Fi) linked to the fan, the moment you walk away beyond the BT signal range, the app will stop working.

Say you have the fan and light each at a medium setting and flip your wired wall switch off.... does it come back on to the same setting when you flip the switch back on?
