The new app is killing rep points

139 114 September 3, 2025 at 07:50 AM
This community thrives on poster reputation. The old app had a nice big "Give Thanks" button at the bottom of each deal. Tap it once, tap confirm, and you're done. Now, you need to expand user profile at the end of the post, tap "Give Rep", add a comment, and only then confirm. Just who would have thought it would be a good idea?

You're right, giving reps does require more effort in the new app. The team has plans to fix this issue and make it more like the old app rep experience by adding a rep button directly on the deal. We don't have an estimated release date to share at this time, but that change is coming in the future.

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. Please let us know if you have any additional feedback about the new app, or anything else.

Getting rep points died for me YEARS ago. Occasionally, I still get repped, mostly from those who've been on this site as long (or longer) than me. But most of my deals, even Front Page ones, get no reps. And it's been like that for years.

EDIT: Reacting to a reply (TU, TD, bulb, LOL emoji) must've replaced repping. I still use the Classic UI, so I don't have access to that feature. It would make sense to add rep points when people positively react to a reply (but I haven't given it much thought and can't know the pros and cons from the backend, site design and/or community engagement standpoint).

Echoing all of the above. I'm not a high volume contributor, but my last +rep is from December 2024 which seems excessive.

Agreed. From my last 5-6 FP posts I've received not even a handful of rep points.

I have a FP deal right now, which somehow prompted me to take a deeper look at the new site design. Am I blind or does the new site design NOT even have a "Give Rep" button at all? Confused

This would explain why I see virtually no reps ever other than from long-time users (who, presumably, are on the classic site). I am way past worrying about reps anymore. That's not why I am on the site. Just curious...

The button to give reps does still exist on Redesign, but it isn't as easy to access as it once was. You can see exactly where to find the rep button by checking out this article:

That helps, thank you. But I suspect that unless you are a (relative) old-timer who knew about this feature from before, as a new user, you wouldn't necessarily know to look for it.

Just for the record: I am not whining or trying to be difficult. I am not personally invested in this feature. Just providing constructive feedback.

Definitely seems to be a weird issue. I have a current FP post with 41 upvotes but have received zero rep from it.

I don't really care about rep but at least it's not just me.
