Recently, I purchased this membership after almost 2 years without membership. when I went to get physical card at the store, the rep their started arguing that there is no 18 month rules ... and basically said I have to renew my old membership. I said flat out that I am not paying for renewal.. and they gave in eventually but it was big hassel. I am going to be careful on Costco membership in future.

I don't know about Costco, but can confirm you can do this with Sam's. My wife and I alternate each year. I currently have a membership with her added on, and when this expires, she will sign up for a new customer promo and add me on. Have been doing this for a decade.
Costco makes it tough though because to qualify, you can't have been a member for 18 months I believe.

In almost 18 years of owning warehouse club memberships, the deals are almost always on new memberships. I haven't seen any deal on existing membership.

every year i use a different email for a new sams membership and its all through the app i never even have to goto thier desk to get a card but costco way stricter they force you to take photo and check ID.

There must be a time limit of a year before you can get the promo again because I tried it with Sam's, before I signed-up again asked them to delete my information but I could not get the promo again.

Yes, they seemed to have changed it. Promo code did not work on Uber, inkind gift cards.

When buying ANYTHING through Groupon, it's a 50-50 chance you'll actually get what you pay for. Looks like about half never received the $100 off $200, which tracks. For those who get lucky, congrats -- but you will not be able to use the one-time code on gift cards, despite what others have said.

It would be great if you could approach situations with a little more understanding rather than immediately jumping to what you did.This is a Groupon ... the money you pay for the memberhsip goes to Groupon, but if you cancel the membership at Costco, I don't know if you'd receive your money back. They could enter it into the system as a voucher. That's why I asked the question.
