if the bolt head is being stripped (rounded I assume you meant) it's because:

over torqued
incorrect wrench used
the person working on car shouldn't

I think that the point is that there ARE times in life when someone else might change your oil. This world is replete with stories of fumbled oil changes by incompetent mechanics [sic].
So, a 13mm might be setting one up for eventual Jiffy Lube malpractice, while a 16mm hedges against that risk.

Thanks OP bought two seems to fit my 2015 Durango. Keep a couple just in case.
You keep multiple spare oil pan bolts for a single vehicle? is that because new guys at the quick lube, or some reason I'm not imagining because I feel like if you either lose a bolt or mangle one yourself something's very very wrong.

You can't follow a conversation. The person I quoted does not have this and said he didn't need one.

I personally don't like the idea of such a small head on a M14 bolt.

I'd rather have a 17mm hex head, like what is probably from factory.

I guess one advantage is that you can weld a nut to it pretty easily if you do strip the head.

I ordered 4 for this price point for 2024 Hyundia Kona...29lb torque isn't much with correct socket size...o-ring/gasket they say last 3-4 oil changes before it hardens.

13mm head on a 14mm thread seems like a mistake but it rhymes so it must be good. My LS has a 15mm head on a 12mm thread.

No, some of us will never end up at Jiffy Lube, or anywhere comparable. No one touches my vehicles besides me. The only time in the past 20 years anyone has changed my oil was by accident - mechanics came to my warehouse to work on corporate trucks and did an oil change on my work truck thinking they we're doing the whole row. Free oil change for me, and those guys are excellent fleet mechanics, not the type that strip oil plugs. 13mm is fine, I know how to use a torque wrench.

Why are you so worried about someone keeping extra $2 parts around, especially ones in a very common size? Jeez, of all things to worry about, you pick this? And that rubber o ring doesn't last forever. Plus some people seem to think these are made to be stripped (which I disagree with).

I mean it's easy to get the right socket. However, shit happens... imagine the socket not fully seated (I mean you are under a car, mistakes happen) and then you're stripping this small head SOME. This can happen a couple of times until it's rounded off.

I have been doing oil changes for the past 15 years for my personal cars. That doesn't speak quality, hell I could be doing it wrong. But I have never had an issue with the factory oil pan nut - nor leaking from the bolt. Honestly, most times I don't even replace the gasket/crush washer. I've been better about it. If I am doing diff/trans I would def replace that seal.

Solid pass for me on this product!

I am going to have to buy a new car to make this work, but don't see this stuff on sale very often.

I guess they were cheap enough and I was impulsive.

Great deal! But I didn't have a car that fit this, so I bought a Dodge to use it.

How you would strip it? ~30ft lb at most for oil pan plug and you change it out fairly frequent.
You've never been to Jiffy Lube I see
