I'd rather have a 17mm hex head, like what is probably from factory.
I guess one advantage is that you can weld a nut to it pretty easily if you do strip the head.

I think that the point is that there ARE times in life when someone else might change your oil. This world is replete with stories of fumbled oil changes by incompetent mechanics [sic].

You keep multiple spare oil pan bolts for a single vehicle? is that because new guys at the quick lube, or some reason I'm not imagining because I feel like if you either lose a bolt or mangle one yourself something's very very wrong.
