I just noticed that all of my subscribe and save items have been modified to have sold by "Amazon and other top rated sellers" instead of Amazon.com. When I select Amazon as the seller, the order is updated negating the discounts and coupons, although the original order was placed with an item that was listed Amazon as shipper/seller. What BS is this?

Check in "account -> subscribe and save -> deliveries" section. I have included a screenshot from my phone app.
These were all new subscriptions and I never select a substitution.

Mine aren't. Did you set up substitutes? I never do.

I don't understand what you mean by this. Could you explain it better please? Where do I look for this under subscribe and save?

On my android, I can go to account -> subscribe and save -> deliveries and select one of the items and could see the attached screenshot.

The subscribe and save policy is that if the price drops in a certain time frame, they give you the lower price. But it seems like they added other sellers besides amazon and are not taking coupons into consideration when giving you the lower price. So lets say you checked out with a $10 order that had a 25% coupon bringing the total to $7.50 then another seller comes along and offers the same item for $9, Amazon is giving you the $9 one as the lower price even though it's raising what you pay by $1.50.

I've had it happen with the buy "$30, get $10 off" coupons where I'd order just enough to hit $30, then, after I've ordered, the price would drop to below $30 and they'd take away the $10 coupon

So, if Amazon doesn't have the item in stock when your subscription order is due they just fulfill it with some random seller. They probably have been doing that for awhile and just got around to updating the website.

  • There is no picture attached to your OP at the moment to your OP.
  • I am in the section you pointed out in the app (Android).
  • I did not see the phrase you mentioned.
  • I figured out the next step (you left that out). I see it in the comments now. Please edit that into the OP.
  • Tapped on one of my items in the upcoming deliveries queue,, and now I can see the phrase you mentioned.
  • What I cannot see there is a place to see past deliveries that might show what you say about the invoice, stating that they charged differently, or an item was sold by another seller than AMZ.
  • Neither can I see who is currently listed as the seller with any details here in the app.
  • I have only used my pc browser to do these things.

I can only guess that you are saying you noticed the new phrase, and you noticed a price was changed on at least one upcoming item since you ordered it as a 1st-time subscription item. Then you went to look at the invoice and noticed the changes you mentioned were made, as far as "Sold by" and pricing.

Did this item also show up in your canceled items section (on your pc browser)?

Others have stated they have found AMZ had canceled and reordered an item from their S&S list (even on a 1st-time order) with different pricing on their behalf without notice or permission. But no mention of another seller being the source. Of course, that part, as you say, is a new change.

Can you link a source to this policy?
I cannot confirm that is true.

On the subscribe and save help page, it says: "[Prices]... wont exceed the reminder email price" so they'll give you a lower price if it drops at anytime between the "reminder email" and the shipment

Yep, That happened to me too, except it was for a few items, some $50 or so.

There is nowhere in this SD article where Amazon claims they will lower a price on an order after a Subcribe and Save order is placed- let alone, within a certain time frame as you claimed...

Please find the text you mean. Highlight, then Right-click and "copy link to highlighted" and post where you believe it says this.

Under what they claimed the customer service said:

Amazon may, at their discretion, cancel a S&S order(s) if the price is lower than Amazon would like. They may do this at any time and without notification to the customer.

Amazon may then re-enter that S&S item(s) to a customer's account at the then-current price. They may do this at any time and without notification to the customer.
