You do get notifications without a subscription. You can access the live feed from the app as well.
Like one of the other commenters, I needed a keypad and this a was both affordable and fit for the task.

I've disabled motion capture as I have other cameras; what I get is notifications and a picture when someone interfaces with the keypad.
With the motion capture stuff disabled the battery lasts for months.

it's $38 with $10 gift card at Best buy

bought it last time for 35 with $10 gc. you don't get much without a subscription but you can live view and get notifications of events. I needed a keypad, so good enough for me. also recommend to purchase the adapter to plug it in so you don't have to worry about the battery

All you need to do is disable motion capture or hardwire it.

I have no complaints about mine. Battery lasts over a month with 1-5 uses per day. Battery takes all day to charge, so I'll prob pick another one up from BB to use the spare battery.

Chamberlain / MyQ is an absolute garbage product. they removed a ton of features after I bought their smart garage adapter like Google home and Home Assistant integration. They also riddled their app with ads, like the first thing they show you is an ad when you're just trying to open the app to open your GD garage door. It's horrendous. do not reward this company with a single dollar of your hard earned money.

say no to myQ products. I have cameras, smart garage openers etc that work may be half the time. The app constantly logs out or throws error that it cannot to their server when i try to open the garage. No it's not a wifi issue. They push subscription every time you try to use the app.

Meanwhile, I'm sitting here with the Chamberlain smart opener and app that works flawlessly. No camera features obviously, but everything else has always been perfect in the 4ish years I've been using it. Just using a universal 9V entry pad. Battery lasts years.

This is a great price. Just to use as a standalone keypad makes it a competitive price plus you can view in real time without sub and it does give alerts without a sub. The battery lasts me well over a month and I've had this for over a year.
Although it takes about 10 hours to fully charge and a hardwired solution would be way better, it's not that big a deal IMO to fit it into your monthly home schedule to charge it.
