Awesome deal, and no risk of used AirTags being tied to someone else's account. If so, return them for free! The only "risk" is that I might not get 4 AirTags for $42 if I have to return them.

Turn the silver disc to loosen it, press it down 5 times hearing the chirp, it's wiped. It is not linked to an account anymore. Could be wrong… but have done it. It paired up with a phone that it was not linked originally to.

People have been posting this or similar comments in every airtags deal for years now. That is speculation and with technology there is always a newer version right around the corner. That doesn't mean this is not a good deal.

For that to work the Airtag still had to have been removed from the previous Apple account:

You just need to reset the airtag if this was done when the tag was out of range of the original phone.
