it's not a *bad* garlic press, but it's still annoying as many many are, but it will last.

The much better one (Buy it for life imo) is Oxo's Heavy duty garlic press, it's a breeze to clean, should never break (mines been rock solid for truly daily use for a few years now with no signs of damage)
I'll never let a different one go into the hands of family and friends, I've bought probably 4 or so for others ever since I first got mine

I agree with you. I've had both. It works decently but gave away my OXO Good Grips Stainless Steel Garlic Press because it was more difficult to clean—even rusting under the removable insert it has. I like the strength of the OXO Good Grips Heavy Duty Garlic Press and find it a bit easier to clean.
However, the wife favors this posted OXO Good Grips Stainless Steel Garlic Press because it is easier for her to grip and weighs less. Also, it's about half the price.
Hope this helps anyone who is unsure of which press to choose from.

I hate cleaning this thing. Had it for a while from macy's. Didn't pay full price wouldn't pay discounted price again.

I feel like a cheese grater would work better than these damn garlic presses... they always just make a mushy mess

That's the point of a garlic press.

A microplane is what you would be looking for... Have to peel the garlic cloves but works great (grate).

Having the integrated cleaner is excellent. We have a Zyliss Susi 2, which works nice, but the blue cleaning tool disappeared a few years back. Cleaning without the tool is a pain. The Susi 3 still has a separate tool, but at least made provisions for storing it inside the handle. Even better is the OXO design that just attaches it to the body of the press.

I've had that one for 10 years, and sure, you can not peel the garlic, but it's annoying not to because it just gets clogged.
