No it wasn't. It was $400 when it first came out. $200 is the lowest it's ever been on Amazon brand new.

I agree it should be cheaper by now, and sorry yours died, but I've been using one for over a year now and think it's a great phone.

We got this smartphone last year for $150 at Best buy (they connect us to the carrier). Very nice phone overall. Good screen and battery life. Stylus is a big plus as well. Camera is very good except the zoom.

I bought this phone in July when it dropped to $249.99. I upgraded from a Motorola Edge 2022 mainly for the microSD slot (I missed having my music collection stored locally), the 3.5 mm headphone jack, and eco leather back (the Edge had a plastic back and was extremely slippery). I rarely use the stylus, but it's nice to have. For $200 it's a lot of phone for the money.

This should not be on SD. $200 for moto g stylus 2024 is insane.
It is not a Moto G Stylus. It is the 8G/256GB Moto G Stylus 5G. It is a completely different phone.

There is a large amount of confusion about Motorola's naming conventions.

A Moto G Stylus 5G is a superior phone to a Moto G Stylus. Further, the 8GB RAM 256GB storage package is a notch above the standard, already superior to the phone this is being compared to, Moto 5G Stylus 5G.

Typing this from my Caramel Latte phone now.

Great phone, despite the on paper slow processor, the software appears to be very well optimized as everything minus games and high-end stuff runs very smooth. Definitely recommend a screen protector as this does not have gorilla glass and is listed as having Dragontail glass (not as scratch resistant). The vegan leather looks good and feels soooo good holding it without a case. Makes me wish higher end phones incorporated something similar instead of the usual glass/metal which look amazing yes but don't really feel as comfortable in the hand.

I'm with you on the vegan leather. I've been using BlackBerry phones up until about a year and a half ago and always loved the grippy texture on the back of them. This Moto phone reminded me of that.

And? I bought a pixel 8 for 3x that and it only lasted a little over a year. Buying Samsungs, Pixels, and iPhones for 3-4x times the price isn't worth it. They may last a little longer typically, but after 2 years the battery is usually shot on those. You can buy a new one of these every year and still end up ahead. I don't get your argument.

Yeah, some people are sleeping on Moto phones. I used LG until they stopped making phones (RIP), but Moto is the next closest things. True, "midrange" phone, it can do anything I throw at it, it's on the easier side to root/customize, durable as heck, headphone jack, SD slot, etc.
The original retail of the 2023 and the 2024 model were $300, the 2025, which I'm really keen to get as just a general upgrade, retails at $400, which does feel a bit high considering it's only a small upgrade to the 2024. The 2023, well.. That was one of the worse phones I've used. Of course I HEAVILY modified it, so that may have contributed, but it was CONSTANTLY having issues. My current is this 2024 here. Naturally, most people's favorite phones are their most current ones, but I haven't liked a phone this much since my Samsung Galaxy S5. And, like LG, they're not the "flagship" guys, so the phones are cheap AND get much cheaper pretty quickly. I still miss LG (loved my dual screen G8X), but Moto is a pretty good replacement. EXCEPT for one thing: no freaking AOD.. I know I don't need it, but it's SO nice being able just glance over and see what time it is, if I have notifications, etc. And despite finally switching to an OLED screen (pretty much necessary for AOD) for the 2024 model, still no AOD, and I've read that it's not on the 2025, either. Kind of a bummer, but that one was on the very bottom of my personal "wishlist" for phone features.
Sheesh, what a wall of text. Anyway, great phone!

For my dad the stylus is indispensable. At 85 computer power drops far away from access. If he didn't already have one I'd buy in a heartbeat.

Good phone. I've had the 8gb/256 version for about a year now. Upgraded from the 2022 version. One of the last phones with a headphone jack. Just baby the glass cause it will scratch/crack easily. I'm assuming they are blowing out the 2024 version to drop the price of the 2025 version for Black Friday.
