Not LOT, but much better than many movies over the past 10 years and much better than the majority of Super Hero movies the past 3-4 years.
Now I'm not comparing genres, just saying for movie enjoyment these are 100% watchable and the filming is wonderful.

Wish this included the 48fps version just for posterity.

They're definitely overstuffed and strain to imitate the gravitas of LOTR with what is fundamentally a simpler, more childish story, BUT damned if doesn't all still work! The battles and emotional highs still get me going every time.

Personally, I found the movies a bit tough to get into.
There's some fun with the dragon and CGI. These were a great gateway to lure my young kids into the world of LotR.
Firing up Fellowship just wasn't doing it for them.

I saw one of these (can't remember which one) at the theater in 48fps and it looked truly odd. Like watching a low budget school play. Glad I did it, because I doubt I'll ever see a 48fps movie again.

Crazy they made a 9hr trilogy out of a couple hundred page children's book.
There are multiple fan edits out there that condense these down to a single film that more closely follows the book and cut out hours of bloat.

Can confirm. I have The Bilbo Edition fan edit and it condenses the trilogy into a 4 hour movie, cutting out a lot of the nonsense filler and odd love story. Makes it way more enjoyable.
