My home inspections included GFCI outlets and pools and saunas. Last home purchase they found grounding issues that were part of the work repair request that was satisfied for me.

Huh? Not the same functions.
There are use cases for both and I have a few of both and other diag and test tools myself. I also have a smaller short packout that does most common things and a full pack out for more extensive work for diags and troubleshooting, line tracing etc. When doing installations or sorting an issue, and if you do it enough, you need much more than just this tool. $2 is nothing also. Not everyone should by either one of these also.

Not for a tool like this. There are many solid options with way less cost than Fluke for some gear that does makes sense. Higher end gear you can typically trust Fluke, but not 100% as well. There are others that have challenged Fluke's brand for various tools groups and done it well. I suspect Fluke still in big with Corp Cust Accts where all is Fluke and I have some Fluke as well. Ya wanna be a Fluke guy, have at it. Similar to SnapOn and their replenishment programs but you pay for them.

All home inspectors are different. Some do a fantastic, complete job, and take pride in their work...and some do the bare minimum to pass the bank's requirements for "needing an inspection". Some go into your attic and onto your roof...but if you don't have a ladder, others just look from the ground and check that box. Some will just test one outlet in the room to make sure there is power, they don't all check each one to make sure they are wired properly. Something like this helps you "trust...but verify".

So you can test your sockets, in case they are not functioning correctly. GFCI sockets tend to go bad. This is a great tool to quickly check them. Calling an electrician would be very costly for a simple verification task.

Note: this unit does not reliably detect if live or neutral is being switched on a switched outlet. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if any of these cheaper style consumer ones do so properly
