Great price. I'm playing this right now. As a lifelong FF fan, I can say it is better than XV (so far), but kind of dull between the TOTALLY EPIC boss battles. I appreciate the FFIV-like setting, but at the same time I wish the locations were more colorful and interesting. After playing Expedition 33, I got spoiled with its artistic creativity. FFXVI looks a little drab in comparison.

I tried but that combat is so boring. Do you even get a group? I almost bought for this which is $5 off its "normal". But honestly this feels like a $5 game

Are you asking about FFXVI? So far you only control once character with some rotating AI-controlled guests party members. It's definitely worth $20 esp for the production values, and if you are a FF fan.

Keeps getting lower and lower. I've wanted to play this game since the demo came out but at this rate it seems it might be given away as a monthly game or put in the catalog

This is probably the worst final fantasy. It is boring, slow, the characters are cringe, and the cool moments are reduced to quick time events. Skip this one and go play ff7 rebirth again.

The story is what makes this game shine.

Check the libraries in your town/city. Mine has like 11 copies to lend out.

No FF numeral title took a dive in price this fast. After you try the combat, you will know it's not a Final Fantasy game.
Stranger of paradise was better than this

This is an amazing game. It's a travesty that the game is this cheap. It's incredibly polarizing to the fan base mostly due to the change to active combat. There is also a lack of gearing progression, you may wear the same accessories for nearly the entire game. I feel like the budget was lacking as a lot of places have a feeling of being empty - like not enough graphical assets.

But in my opinion, the writing, story telling, voice acting, character development, is the best in the series. It's a smash up of Game of Thrones with FF atmosphere - and gigantic kaiju esper battles. Play the game for the story and you won't be disappointed.

It's worth the $20 as I had fun playing this, but this title will likely not be remembered as anything special in the Final Fantasy series as a whole. Anybody ranting that it's worth less is likely very hard to please, or the franchise just might not be for them anymore. I will admit I would have been disappointed if I had paid over $40 for it, as the gameplay was fairly linear to me..

As far as price drops, I've been on this forum for 2 decades and almost all Final Fantasy games have dropped to about the $15 price point (maybe not within the first year of release, but soon thereafter...given inflation, $20 sounds right as the 1+ year post-release sale price). I think I still have a sealed copy of Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition from when it was posted for I think $10 here on Slickdeals many years ago.

I played through this whole game when it came out... And i'm a huge FF fan since the glory days of "SquareSoft." However, this one was really hard to finish. Not because it's hard, but because it gets really boring near mid to end game. There are some great moments in the story, so it is a shame, but I think what really kills this game is the combat. It is uninteresting and becomes a 1-2-3 button combo slog. They make it look like there's variety in combat but once you play enough you realize how dull it really is. There's also some incredible cutscenes and boss battles that very much overstay their welcome. They are turned into extremely easy "hit this button at the right time" sequences akin to Shenmue but way easier. I enjoyed how the boss battles looked but not the button pressing... it was likely done to make the cut scenes more engaging but ended up feeling more like a chore. I would've rather just sat and watched the cut scenes and had them cut in half on time. I think there is some humor in this game too but you have to look very hard for it. I think they should have played more into the humor and less into the serious stereotypical hero.
Here's what I mean by humor: https://youtu.be/b5x-rc9EMRQ

My first FF was 4 (US 2) The last FF I really enjoyed was 10. 12 was ok. 13 played itself and was a convoluted story, 13-2 was slightly better 13-3 was crap. I own 15, never played it. This isn't turn based so I don't consider it a true FF, but I'm open to it changing my mind. I think I'll wait for the GotY edition with DLC and stuff. I'm more excited for Octopath Traveler, Dragon Quest.
