i have been using one for over a couple of months now as home laptop for home work, browsing and movies. Amazing battery life. Everything feels fast. Haven't tried gaming.

Wow that's such a great price for those specs. Not wild about the numpad but I know some people prefer it.

I'll watch this one for comments. Hopefully others can convince me not to buy it by pointing out some things I didn't catch or not included in the list of specs (like experiential aspects of those who already own it).

Seems like a great price for these specs, including touchscreen, backlit keyboard etc. even though the CPU is the entry-level Snapdragon X X1-26-100.

Have you used the NPU for any local AI applications? How does it perform?

Is the RAM upgradeable/replaceable?

RAM is not upgradeable in this model. Correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression there are no Snapdragon powered laptops with upgradeable RAM. If you see "LPDDR," that means it's board-integrated.

PCIe Wi-Fi is also typically integrated, but it appears many have user-replaceable M.2 NVMe slots.

main cost saving feature here is the cpu. snapdragon 8 core cpu vs maybe an intel 12 core cpu will perform noticeably worse in high computation tasks.

however, battery efficiency should be very good and the rest of the specs are great. soldered ram is fine here ... no one gonna upgrade ram in a $400 build

The processor here is the weakest among the X series - below both Elite as well as Plus

It has AI in the name. Does that mean it can create pictures of kittens on the moon?

Does this have fingerprint unlock or facial? And how many hours do you get streaming videos (no gaming)?

Anyone care to comment on this vs. the Walmart ASUS, specifically with regard to CPU/iGPU. I just know nothing about Qualcomm performance as far as laptops are concerned.

Obviously this one has a bigger hard drive, numpad, touch screen, backlit keyboard, USB C charging, faster RAM, and an extra year of warranty for a $75 difference. That's a lot of extras for approximately the cost of just a hard drive upgrade on WM's. But knowing nothing about the CPU is concerning to me, as is Acer build quality vs. ASUS build quality (at least in my experience).

This would be for an engineering student.

I believe lots of people here would buy a cheap product and upgrade it despite being a hoopty.

It has face unlock. I haven't timed the streaming video part. However, I can say this much that I don't have to charge it everyday.
