Ever since samsung and vizio pushed updates with ads, I have never given my tv the wifi password. My approach now is to use the tv as a monitor and hook up a streaming box that I can replace when it gets laggy (or if they litter it with ads).

It's most often not software that is the issue, but a hardware issue. Crap processor in the tv, crap performance. Google OS is the best OS tbh. Roku is right behind as a simple OS

I also think anemic hardware is most likely the reason most TV apps suck. Get an Apple TV, nVidia Shield, or Roku Ultra and enjoy your interface much more. I use a 2024 Roku Ultra, as it's the cheapest, ticks off all the compatibility checkmarks (DV, eARC, etc.), and the UI is very responsive. If Roku ever gets too intrusive with ads, I'll switch devices; zero tolerance for ads in my entertainment or purchased devices.

Update the firmware then disconnect it if you are going to do that. They usually don't ship with the latest.
Good point, thanks!

Just going to leave this here. If budget allows, this is a massively better TV. https://slickdeals.net/f/18835672
Based fs, but twice the price , twice the quality?
This been my dilemma for a year.
I'd prob still get the 85" qm6k for $999 than a super bright 65" for $900..

I havent tried the 8k but the QM6K's audio is atrocious at best. Make sure you have or can get a sound bar.

I got the qm63k from Sam's for the same price plus a free 3 year warranty.
It's the Sam's variant of the qm6k.
The TV looks awesome! Definitely worth it

What the difference between this one and the pro version at Costco? They look the same but I'm not sure.

Thanks

The Costco version "Pro" has the same crystal HVA screen display as the QM7 and QM8, making it better for brighter rooms.
