Normally Asus products are really solid, but the reviews for this router not just from amazon but from other retailers make this item look like a DUD. I would pass on this guy even at this price till they work out the bugs. Amazon 3.8 average, Best buy 3.7 average review score, is extremely low for routers.

It was a rocky release, but if you do firmware updates and hard restart them all the issues have been resolved. I'm currently using 2 in mesh.

I have two of these in mesh and hate myself for buying them. Speed is slow and constantly drops and requires reset. These suck

Then you were a lucky one, cause all the most recent reviews, so people who bought it within the last two weeks are abysmal... One of the first things they make you do is check for updates so it no longer can be a old release firmware as the problem as thats usually the first thing people do...

I did not check recent reviews but in case this is the issue they MUST be factory reset by holding the physical button after being updated or the issues persist.

How does this compare with GT-AX11000 Pro? Recently picked that one up for $199 from Newegg, but haven't opened it yet.

High end wifi 6, vs low to medium end wifi 7. In almost all circumstances the GT-AX11000 Pro will be a powerful beast, but it will be missing wifi 7 features which for now are still very hit and miss on implementation but eventually it will matter.

If you dont care about wifi 7 stick with the GT-AX.

10gig wan port is nuts. But can be used as a lan port, which is nice.

What kind of throughput do you see between them?

I tested this for two weeks in a mesh configuration with an AX82 WiFi 6 router (configured as mesh node). While it was stable and worked very well, it was no real improvement ping or speed-wise over an AX-82 and an AX3000 (both WiFi 6), and the BE 92 also did not really yield 1 Gbps alone (even when very close with a WiFi 7 Phone or MBA, even though my gateway shows 1.2 Gps. I tested different WiFi 7 configurations with MLO and 6 GHz enabled and disabled, but ultimately, it was not really better than my WiFi 6 setup. Also, even though this was a simple configuration (no VP, just one mesh node, no additional APs), memory usage always hovered around 820 MB out of 1000. I think I'll wait for the second-generation chips.

No issues from me.. purchased almost a month ago and it's been great! Running it was a primary in my mesh with 3 nodes, 2 hardwired and 1 wireless.

Just bought the be82u version on Resale for $90. Came looking like new but with a hosed firmware. Luckily was able to reinstall it and it's up and running now.
