I own the 1000mi and have tried on Iron Rangers. My impression is that the Wolverines are instantly more comfortable with less break in, and a more supple leather. IRs are tougher and I would assume more durable, but break in can be hell (per my convo with a friend who owns a pair). He said they're really comfy now though.

One can find red wing iron ranger for that price. Having experience with both I think ranger is a better boot.

For those unaware of the YouTube Channel 'Rose Anvil'; they do a great job of buying boots, cutting them in half and walking through if it is quality construction or overpriced hype.

They did a video focused on this boot:

Here's the comparison between this and the Red Wing Iron Ranger.

I wish I could justify these boots. But I only wear leather boots to church on Sundays.
Show God that you're a responsible "buy once, cry once" kind of guy. That was my excuse for nice boots! 🤣

I bought the rugged last year and I am now liking the look on the original. Only problem is I have like 5 pairs of boots already in rotation.

I can confirm Iron Rangers are difficult to break in. It was 2 weeks of super tight boots making my feet numb and it felt like the soles were 2x4s. Once they broke in though, they were perfectly fitted to my feet and I've owned them for 6 years now. They're starting to show some wear, but I just conditioned them and they look fantastic for the amount of time I've worn them. The vibram sole of the IRs vs leather sole of the 1000mi is going to reflect that break in period, but last much longer without a resole. Horween makes some incredible leather, so the uppers may require much less break in, and might be just as durable on the uppers. Wolverine makes these with a Vibram sole but they don't have the classic look of the 1000 mile. I've always thought the 1000 mile had a dressier feel than the IRs, and were more versatile. But never bought a pair despite having IRs, Beckmans, and Willistons from Red Wing and some Alden Indys.

Iron Rangers are uncomfortable as hell and they look ridiculous.

kinda crazy that what was once a true work boot made for working people doing really hard work has become a fashion trend. good for their marketing team! comparatively speaking, i recall this running about $70 back in the day. in today's money, still the same value.
Are you new to the world? A lot of fashion has adopted work wear. Also as the market got flooded with cheap fashion brands or large corporations purchased name brands and then started cutting corners so people now have fewer choices for a good product. Honestly these are still cheaper than the microbrands that have shown up to fill the gap.

Love the look of these, but I barely wear the boots I have and it takes forever to break them in. Must resist 😂

Timberlands were the fashion craze 25 years ago. We saw all of Hollywood wearing them.

These Wolverines are not work boots, they are an over priced fashion statement. Retail price of $373 for an imported boot is a joke. I believe Red Wing offers both imported and US made boots. Having used real work boots "steel toes" for decades, I will stick with the US made Red Wings.

i used to be a huge redwings boot but there boots have declined as well as their service atleast in my areas but id agree they are way better than this boot no doubt

So I could walk 500 miles, and I could walk 500 more?
