Don't trust Walmart with appliances. They only allow 2 day returns and will force you to take it into the store even though the item arrived damaged from delivery.

That exact scenario happened to me a month ago with an Arctic king chest freezer. I will never trust Walmart after this experience.

Auto defrost also destroys anything you put in the freezer, because "defrost" works by warming up the doors until the ice melts. Absolutely DO NOT get auto defrost if you're storing frozen meat. It will quickly get "freezer burn".

The only reason autodefrost makes sense is if you're a big family that is constantly in and out of the freezer, mostly stores TV dinners and other prepared foods, and eat everything in a month or two.

great quality but defrosting manually is necessary once in 6 months.

Yes it is. It doesn't say it anywhere on the website but I ordered this a few weeks ago and it has a garage ready sticker on the door and in the manual.

I'll counter your anecdote with mine. I received it a few weeks ago in perfect condition.

I am VERY tempted to pull the trigger on this. We have a chest freezer & I get kinda tired of having to dig out items that have sort of drifted to the bottom (via movement/gravity).

This freezer would solve that... but that 2 day return window is just RIDICULOUS. We aren't even in town... & likely won't be back until middle of next week.

So... say it gets damaged in transit or is just flat out 'DOA'... & it sits there while we are driving back home. We'll end up owning this freezer, no matter the condition it's in. 😲

Nah. I think I just talked myself out of it. Do better, Walmart. ☹️

If you are going to get an upright, spend more to get one that auto-defrosts, so you don't have to clean it out semi-annually.

I dug around and found one in stock. Am I safe if I go pick it up or should I cancel the order?

I got mine delivered. It works. Was some damage from shipping on the corner, smashed up the door. The seal still connects fine so it's cosmetic, but like an inch of the bottom right corner is smushed and I can't be bothered to return it for that and they won't partially refund.

Seems to keep temp. Makes a little noise.

I'll also add, I've heard they will give you a discount to keep it if the damage isn't too offensive to your senses.

Auto defrost freezers don't really come in <11 cu ft size unless you are willing to spend $$$$
