Now, 2160 * 4 = 8640
Over 4 years, without taxes and fees, it is 8640.
Add state and other junk taxes to the total, it is a cool $10k over 3 years you have coughed out as a family 😆😆😆
It's always the larger picture that users do not take into account or aren't allowed to, when they dangle the shiny phones in front of you.
Even worse than that? When you "upgrade" every year or are given a 'deal' to stay with them after a year. That's how they become $$$$$ dollar companies. You become a perennial cash cow for these providers. They depend on your "it's too much to switch" or "they're good to me".
Your best bet is to stick to anything without contract or long term pricing. Yes, upfront it hurts, but the installment black hole will wring you dry. Doesn't matter who you go with.

Thanks, all.
The only place AT&T / Verizon are better is in the desert states since sometimes they have custom agreements with Native American tribal properties.
I placed my order on Sunday the 7th, and it was supposed to be delivered on Tuesday the 9th. Three of the phones arrived on Tuesday with no issues, but the fourth one was missing. I called Verizon and was told the fourth phone had been shipped separately and would arrive on Wednesday. (which I had no knowledge of, no tracking, no email notification, nothing)
According to FedEx tracking, the fourth phone was delayed to Wednesday due to an "insufficient address." Then it was delayed again to Thursday, and this morning it was delayed yet again to Friday the 12th. I called FedEx this morning (Thursday the 11th), and they told me I cannot pick it up in person because of the address issue and that there was nothing they could do, they said I needed to contact Verizon.
I then called Verizon and spoke with a supervisor. After a long back-and-forth discussion, he told me I simply needed to wait for the delivery tomorrow, Friday. I'm sorry, but this is not acceptable in my opinion. There are other ways Verizon could resolve this, but instead I'm just being told to wait.
I'm leaving for a week-long trip on Saturday. If the fourth phone is delayed again tomorrow, I plan to return the entire package to a local Verizon store, all three (not activated yet phones), and let Verizon deal with the missing fourth phone and FedEx directly, since the order was incomplete on their end.
So that's $500/year, just under $42/month, for four lines of unlimited service including hotspot data. I don't see anyone else offering unlimited data plus hotspot for $10/month per line. The quality of service is better than most, too.
Plus you don't have to pay for everything up front, you're getting an interest free three year loan.
This kind of deal is absolutely not for me, I'm cheap and don't need the newest phone, or that many lines, and don't use a lot of data. But for people who have multiple family members who want a premium experience, this is a solid deal.
You should NOT be looking at this....that is true for any purchase(except primary residence).
Follow my advice and you will thank me in 5-10 years.
Is there an early termination fee or I just need to pay off my remaining balance of the device (after Verizon has paid 1 year of device down payment on my behave)?
