just received this and hooked it up. Its not as simple as just connecting bluetooth. It also wants wifi access as well at the same time. Kind of annoying
Wireless CarPlay uses WiFi to broadcast and Bluetooth to connect. If you turn off Bluetooth it won't connect automatically and if you turn on WiFi when's it's connected it will disconnect from CarPlay. Not sure if that's what you're talking about but that's how wireless CarPlay works.

Heads up, the car has to already support wired CarPlay… this just makes it wireless. It's a neat party trick and lets you have more control over where your phone lives while you drive. You can even just leave in your pocket if you want and it works great.
One caveat is that wireless CarPlay does give your phone more work to do which can drain battery faster than expected… so you'll still probably want to plug it in for power.

Required for wireless CarPlay. Bluetooth doesn't have the bandwidth needed etc.

I was about to grab it, then spotted the "Frequently returned item" tag. Think I'll pass for now.

Yes, if it's already equipped with CarPlay. My wife's old Cx5 didn't have so these device will not work.

I bought this for $9.93 in September. It works well with my wired CarPlay and was easy to set up but it takes probably 3-4 minutes to connect to my phone every time I get in my car. I bought a steering wheel mounted wireless remote, too.

Anything marked as "frequently returned" on Amazon is an automatic no go for me. Especially when it comes to these off brand/generic products.

also gets returned because of "this will breathe new life into my old car, it has a USB port"... and it's like, this won't magically give your car CarPlay... your car has to already have CarPlay, this just allows you to connect to it wirelessly.

so it gets returned.
