I'll direct you to my comment linked below, but the short story is, this is the company that charges you a subscription fee to use their app to remotely start your oven. I would avoid them like the plague.

What's a good way to use it to help heat up or keep temperature of a Saluspa? I'm thinking along the lines of attaching it to something that floats.

And it doesn't even seem to have physical buttons as a back up option...

Have this item, and that's incorrect. I have the app (free) and can start/run it via bluetooth from my phone. The subscription (about $10/year, if I recall) gets you wifi access and some other features I wouldn't use anyway.

In one of the other threads (Morningsave or Amazon) about this someone pointed out that the App won't be supported in the future. I'm not terribly tech savvy, but if I have the basic app on my phone, and don't change phones (or can still download the old app onto a new phone), and I use it to just turn on the unit and set the temp, shouldn't it continue to work even without 'support'? Even so, I've used mine enough that it's saved FAR more (over buying food out) than it cost by 'cooking' where I'm renting a room for work during the week

The comment that this wont be supported in the future is false see link: https://anovaculinary.com/blogs/b...0supported.
TLDR: Anova Culinary has reversed its decision to stop mobile app support for its older sous vide devices. The company's CEO announced in January 2025 that they will continue to support all versions of their products indefinitely after receiving significant customer feedback

some of the comments from Walmart's product review:

"i knew this was controlled by an app, however i didn't realize it could only be used by paying a subscription service. thats sound like a massive rip off to me. they don't have an option to use it without the subscription for just turning on and setting the timer. i returned it as soon as i found that out. worthless"

"No on device controls ... so one would think that Anova would make a reliable app to control their device line ... ah ... not so much. You can pair it relatively easily, however the app won't stay connected to the device for monitoring. I did discover a workaround for that, and I haven't used it enough to know if it's reliable. When it won't connect, open a setting window for bluetooth, and forget the device. When you go back to the Anova app, you'll probably be prompted to pair again. YMMV. Good Luck if your choosing this brand."

I own one- Just use the FREE app with Bluetooth. I'll be buying another as a backup.
