Denon has the AVR-X1700H receiver for $499 and you should get a pop-up to enter your email for $50 off. It says $50 off $500+ but my coupon applied with no problems. Shipping is free.

Let's get it out of the way. Yes, this is the Costco receiver that used to be $300. Unless you have a time machine, you can't get that deal. However, I don't think there's a much better receiver on the market for sub $500. If you have one, let me know and I'll gladly buy it and return this one.

so sad costco got rid of this. saw it last november for 299 and was so close to pulling the trigger but was satisfied with my yamaha receiver at the time.. would this be a significant upgrade in terms of music sound quality compared to the yamaha v385? i only have a two channel system (SVS ultra bookshelfs) and klispch subs.

So true. It was hard for me to buy this since it use to be so cheap, but the price still made sense. Too bad the current Costco one isn't that great.

My current (old) Pioneer is acting up, otherwise I'd hold out hope that Costco brings this back.

Considering Denon = Onkyo I'd say go with the Yamaha RX-V6A for around the same price.

Wow, price went up $100. I'll mark it as expired.

You get slightly more power w/the V6A. Here's a comparison to help with a purchase decision:

Both are older AVRs that are often discounted so it's just a matter of time!

When I started looking for a new receiver to replace my POS Onkyo, Yamaha and Marantz were at the top of my list since I have had good luck with both over the years. I found out Onkyo, Denon and Marantz are all now the same company. Poor reliability and shitty customer service history makes them a no go for me.

There's your confusion: Onkyo and Integra are part of PAC, now owned by Gentex. Denon and Marantz are part of Sound United and are now owned by Harman. Onkyo does not equal Denon and have never been together!

Onkyo, Integra, Pioneer and Pioneer Elite branded products
Well heck wonder what article I read. Sorry for the bad info. Nice to know Marantz is back on the table for next time.
