To clarify again Onkyo's RZ50 when it was released(2021) was bought & even had a waiting list at MSRP of $1600!
This is the lowest this has been(will be, for that matter) & fulfilled by an authorized sellers(Amazon or EE).
Why is about 60% off of "MSRP" from an authorized seller not a sale?
BTW every brand has sales, hardly anyone buys MSRP, especially in here!

Arcam, Anthem, Sony ES series are premium receivers and very rarely sold at discount. When they do, it's a real deal. For example, there were several deals on SD for BB clearing Arcam AVR-11 for like 65% off. I got one; returned it and now kicking myself for doing that.
Onkyo was always a regular brand. Not saying it was bad, but never had that polished sound and premium components like Arcam and Anthem. Given it's now almost 5 years old, and that it's from third party reseller with lessthan stellar reputation, 12% off is not a big deal.
Here are couple of example of a real deal so you can compare for yourself.

I wouldn't try to convince him how good or bad EE is. He's never been critical of any vendor and his advice is always "buy buy buy".
Yet you use 12% on this BUT not off "MSRP"!!!
That's not a fair comparison for many reasons imo!
Not sure why you keep bringing up third party, they are an authorized seller & it's new!
Problematic is a whole other conversation.
You can easily say BB OB are very problematic also.
Out of curiosity which "premium" Arcam model did you return & why?
On a side note Sony ES receivers are comparable "premium" with Anthem or Arcam!!!
Pretty sure many people including me would not agree!
I guess that would mean your advice has always been speculation, speculation, speculation!
Remind us how often you "speculated" how the RZ50 would never be able to support DLBC LOL!
