As you stated these are for stainless steel and oven cleaning. They are designed for harder surfaces. There is a purple version "Scotch-Brite Odor Resist Non-Scratch Scrub Sponge" for non stick etc.

Non scratch 6 pack $6.49 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0711YCK5Z coupon didn't work on this one.

Yes, stay away from Scotch Heavy Duty and buy the blue colored Scotch/3M sponges that generally do not scratch.

Yep, silverware is supposed to be stainless steel and I also have stainless steel pans. All scratched up after use.

So there are turquoise ones in the OP
There are blue ones
Somebody mentioned purple one
And there is yellow ones

How is a non-OCD consumer to decide which one to use...

if your sponge has an odor, time to replace as it likely has built up a lot of bacteria. no need to resist it lol

Are the sponges cellulose sponges, or are they the synthetic ones?

Nonsense. Soak it with water and stick it in the microwave for 2 minutes. Or soak them in bleach water for a minute or two.

I know someone that discard his sponge every night if he does the dishes that day. Luckily he had a dishwasher in his apartment too.
