It is because it's the Irwin and the lever goes up to raise. The Dewalt is more expensive and well worth it not only because they come in handy, you can use it hands free because you push the lever downward. I work alone a lot and I'm not a young guy. I like them so much I have two.

I agree, I'm an older guy too and have two of the Dewalt jacks. Great for installing heavy doors

I have one. And two Dewalts. They're HEAVY. Solidly built. 100% worth the money as in they're those tools that are indispensable when you specifically need them. I used them to jack up a wood rolling tool cabinet with a cast iron top. The damn thing weighed 200lbs. No way I could've tilted it on its side alone but I was able to jack it up with 3 of them and changed the wheels out to bigger ones. Made the job EZPZ

Yeah these are the things where, if you can get a no-name brand that works almost as well for 1/4 of the price, that's probably the better move. I'm up for paying more to get more but this doesn't feel like that.

I have the dewalt's version that I used recently to level a heavy furnace in the basement, 6" off the ground, before install. Bottom line, don't underestimate the benefit of being able to adjust the dewalts with your foot as others have said.

In for one. Controlled lowering is a hugely beneficial feature.
I missed the sale last time and picked up a pair of cheaper ones on Amazon, whose lowering feature is "drop up to 300lbs like a sack of potatoes." Scary business. Working in pairs, you can do stepped uncontrolled drops where Jack #2 is set slightly lower than Jack #1, and you release Jack #1 and the weight freefalls until it is caught by Jack #2. But I wouldn't dare do it at any weights close to the limits.
I think the $45 pair of cheap jacks served the intended purpose (lifting furniture to a height that a dolly can be placed underneath) and were worth the money, but having even one of the Irwins will dramatically improve both the safety and the functionality.
