This BalanceFrom power cage is a budget home gym starter that gets the basics done for squats, benching, pullups, and lat work. The cage and lat pulldown have held up well over time, and the low price is the main draw versus pricier racks. The biggest catch is attachment fit, since the uprights are an odd size and many third party accessories do not fit cleanly. The listing also appears to omit the safety bars or straps shown in photos, so it works best if you only need the included setup.

  • Home lifters building a first rack setup, because it gets training started cheaply and works well for basic squats, pullups, and lat pulldowns.

  • Owners who only need the included rack features, because the uprights are a nonstandard size that makes extra attachments hard to source.

  • DIY gym builders willing to modify equipment, because drilled holes, spacers, and pipe-based safety bars can make hard-to-fit accessories usable.

  • Low-ceiling garage gym users, because the pullup bar can potentially be inverted during assembly for extra headroom.

  • Buyers who need included safety bars or straps, because multiple received units arrived without them and the listing does not clearly include them.

  • Lifters planning to add lots of third-party attachments, because the 2.3-inch uprights make many spotter arms, lever arms, belt squat parts, and plate holders incompatible.

  • Heavy squatters who want to trust the published capacity, because the rack has been shown folding under roughly 800 pounds in drop tests.

  • Bench pressers who want a perfectly centered setup, because the bottom support bar sits far forward and can force the bench to be lifted into position.

Great deal to start powerlifting (or strength train) at home without having to deal with being at a commercial gym.
Weight capacity also great, as budget racks tend to have a lower weight capacity.

Walmart allows me to add this to the cart. But when I try to check out, it says it's out of stock. Is it?

EDIT: It's back in stock. Walmart allowed me to check out.

The photo shows two included safety bars, but this rack apparently does NOT come with said safety bars. You can't even buy them as an option. No power rack is complete without them. The whole point of a rack is that you squat / bench inside of it. Those 23" safety catcher they sell are okay, not great. What's the solution? Where can I buy safety bars from?

I ordered the more expensive kit that also came with the pulldown. It explicitly lists that it comes with safety straps. Arrived today and it has NO straps or bars. Great. Now I'll be sending both back if I can't find 3rd party safety bars or straps. The bars listed above may work but I'm not paying $70 for safety bars for a $100 rack.

Worst case you can return them if they don't fit. 3rd party, but can still return to local Walmart store for refund.

But the one star review seems to indicate they are hollow and flimsy. Might as well got the Home Depot route and get an iron pipe, cut it down with hacksaw, and get some end caps. Would be cheaper (and probably stronger).
