They're testing the price level to see how much we would pay for this bundle.

Nov 24: Acme had this for $249. Within an hour, the sale was labeled "sold out" and the same bundle was listed as $299.

Dec 1: Home Depot had this for $259 as a daily deal. I assume a lot of people bought in, so now they're testing $279.

Dec 24: HD $279 deal of the day

Dec 29: HD $279 deal of the day

Jan 5: HD $279 deal of the day

Looks like HD is looking to move these batteries but afraid of losing profit. If you're in need of these batteries, this is not a bad price. They usually go for $299, but if you can wait, I could see them going lower to meet consumer expectations (and struggles..)
